From another site- Just to put the craziness of these megadeals in context, here is a complete list of position players age 34 and above to post 2.5+ fWAR last year (where 2.5 fWAR means "a little above-average"): - Paul Goldschmidt. - Jose Abreu. That's it. There were 14 pitchers with 2.5+ fWAR last year at age 32 or higher, out of 54 total.That means that about 75% of the pitchers to exceed 2.5 fWAR were 31 or younger. There were 10 position players with 2.5 fWAR at age 32 or higher, out of 89 total. The means almost 90% of the players to exceed that threshold were 31 or younger.

    Can nootbar play better cf than springer? I’d so, I swap Jansen for him. I also would like to keep Cimber and give them some combination of merryweather and richards. Leo Jimenez is a guy who I’m afraid won’t ever hit enough to excite me so I’d throw him in some deal If needed. I fear Pearson may be in a trade potentially as team seemed much more eager to show him off in aaa and afl than on mlb roster at end of year. Could have helped in game 2

    Whatever they get back on ryu insurance won’t come until after the season so doubt that will be a factor. The fine for going over is 20pct of the overage. Big deal. You are already paying 233m at that point

    If you want to save 5m for The deadline, then it’s closer to 27 than 32 remaining. Keep that in mind as well.

    30m White/kooch won’t be going to aaa (white isn’t even eligible. They offered arby to Richards so assume he is rp 8 with white or kooch as 7. They can’t cut Richards before sp and only pay him 1/5 of his salary like in the old days UNLESS it’s a file and trial. Barring a trade, bp is full and only one open spot in rotation.
