    Rollins would have been interesting as a short-term stop-gap at SS/2B. But just not worth any possible trade scenario given his age and our 2B prospect(s).

    The funny thing about trying to project a teams next season is that it's a crap shoot, you may have better odds but a large portion of it is based off luck. A great example of this is the '12 O's... basically an even run differential and they went on to win 93 games.

    A contract extension is really just another contract. A player can either except it or not except it. The Red Sox absolutely made the right move by not extending Lester and acquiring some talent instead.

    To say the general WAR guidelines is the same regardless of position is wrong. A 2 WAR 2B may not be evaluated the same as a 2 WAR 3B, for example. Their market value may vary by position and as would the mean WAR.

    He would be an upgrade over Goins at the plate, but would he actually be an upgrade overall? I'm not even sure... Goins defense is substantially better. Hill was an exciting player a couple years ago (again), but he likes to go into these funks, or age is finally catching up to him.

    He wasn't really good in 2013, he was just okay. He will be 33 going into next season and he didn't fair well as a Blue Jays in his final time here. And he's had a negative UZR the last 3 seasons, that's likely only going to get worse. Not a risk I'd take.
