  1. Because of more bad plays by Reyes. Whenever fans watch Reyes they are going to start wondering who can replace him at SS.
  2. The Yankees are only 4 games out of a wild card so this game is important to them (especially the way the A's are playing). Go Jays Go, beat the Yankees! I actually have faith in Goins. Last year he went through a stretch where he was hitting the ball well. Even the last couple of games he played in this past week I saw an improvement in making contact. He has athletic ability based on his defensive play so there is no reason why he can't become a consistent hitter. He just needs to improve his eye at the plate.
  3. Navarro needs to take some serious conditioning during the off-season and hopefully learn to run.
  4. I didn't think about that. Is Gose significantly better against right handed pitchers?
  5. Last night it looked like Gose didn't run out an infield grounder in the 9th that should have been a base hit. I wonder if that is why he is sitting? However, I would much rather see Pompey playing in cf.
  6. I think I will watch the whole game. It will be interesting to see Pompey at cf and Mayberry at 1st. I hope Mayberry works out on defence since he looks promising on offence.
  7. It seems like such a long time ago that I can't remember that, although I like having Lawrie at 3rd or anywhere else on the infield (he plays like he is willing to kill himself or someone else to get to a ground ball - it is almost Happy Gilmore-like, I enjoy watching the hockey-like play of Lawrie in the infield)
  8. In my opinion it shows that the offence was more than adequate, and having watching most of the games this year, the starting pitching and bullpen was also adequate. In my opinion, what really let the Jays down was the infield defence. It got to the point where it sickened me to watch the games; the pitchers would make the pitches and get ground balls and then the infielders would mess up on defence. Especially in the case of Mark Bruele who at one point had a good win loss record and then Reyes started making error after error. One thing that Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler pointed out during the Baltimore series was that a strong defence doesn't just make fewer errors they also get to balls and save runs that a weak defence can't prevent. Having Brett Lawrie back in 2015 will help, but I think the Blue Jays management has to realize the importance of a strong defence even if that means sacrificing something on offence by putting Goins at SS. They need to keep Francisco off the field and even consider trading Reyes if possible (although I like Reyes on offence, his defence has hurt the Jays).
  9. But I think that is the problem with the Blue Jays. It should be easier to choke up on the bat, shorten ones swing and just make contact. Trying to make the best contact humanly possible seems to result in a lot of wild swinging strikes by the Blue Jays when just a bunt, sac fly or ground ball to the right side of the infield would win the game.
  10. The Blue Jays have some good players that make the team worth watching but overall as a team they are a washout. I am starting to see a strong Maple Leafs - Blue Jays parallel.
  11. He looked like he was running full speed down the base path but maybe he stumbled out of the batters box. I thought he would make it for sure.
  12. Typical Blue Jays loss. However, Pompey looks promising. I wish he could play SS.
  13. I don't think Reyes could have thrown out Gose like Jetter just did.
  14. 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. A team that needs 3 home runs per game to have a chance of winning isn't going to get to the playoffs. Many teams can find a way to win without getting any home runs.
  15. Valencia's stock is going down. That swing looked awful.
  16. I am not sure what you mean. It was announced on TV as an error and on the MLB scoring summary as an error - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_09_19_tormlb_nyamlb_1&mode=gameday
  17. There are many shortstops that would have made that play. Reyes has a history of making errors. I think the Blue Jays made a big mistake by paying him so much.
  18. That run was manufactured by Reyes. However, he is still -1 because of his 2 run error.
  19. If Lind had of stretched any further he would have been pulled off the base. Lind make a good effort in my opinion. Reyes just can't make the big plays. Just imagine if Reyes had only 6 errors this year instead of 19. The Blue Jays might had won another 6 - 7 games. In addition, the errors he makes are a motivation killer for the team (and it really peeves the fans).
  20. Story of the 2014 year. Chance at getting out of the inning and instead it becomes a big inning. I have no confidence in Reyes making a big play (even everyday plays are iffy).
  21. Since the Blue Jays have no chance at the post-season, I assume MB can get hit hard tonight and still stay in for 7 or 8 innings. It would be good to see him get the consecutive years of 200 innings record.
  22. How can Gose miss balls by so much. At times it looks like he isn't even close to hitting the ball.
  23. A good example of dumb ball - Reyes just being picked off second after a Jose Bautista ground ball. Who can say a team can win playing that way. Luckily they were bailed out this time by a Edwin homerun. Still, examples of dumb ball have become prevalent during the second part of 2014.
  24. Not really. They were doing both. Once a team gets ahead by playing smartly home runs become a bonus that gives them a big lead.
  25. At this point the only reason for watching is in hoping that one of the prospects will have a great game. Someone said that Pompey is in the lineup tonight? Maybe he will be the next Nathan MacKinnon (different sport, but both are Canadian and Nathan MacKinnon almost single handedly turned the Avalanche from a losing team into a contending team).
