  1. Dickey often has a scary 1st inning and then settles down. Hopefully that is Dickey's scary inning for the game.
  2. I feel bad for Beltre, I know what it feels like (lower back pain I mean). On a positive note - Colabello!
  3. I love it, 2-0 Blue Jays. I think this is going to be a high scoring affair as is often the case when Dickey pitches (for some odd reason).
  4. I like Ben Revere's strategy; score as many runs as we can and get the series back to Toronto - source, Sportsnet interview.
  5. Poor Kansas City. Down 6 - 2 and soon to be eliminated. Good news, if there is a game 5 in the Jays - Rangers series it will be a night game.
  6. This was probably already posted but here is the apology from Harold Reynolds - http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/reynold-offers-apology-for-comment-about-canadian-baseball-fans/ - “Happy Thanksgiving, I’m sorry I upset everybody in Canada,” Reynolds said in a brief interview. “That’s it.” I guess someone told him that today is Canada's Thanksgiving.
  7. It makes sense because I believe in Dickey, I am not the one saying that Price has a much better chance of winning than Dickey. Last post on the matter, I am going to just enjoy today's game.
  8. If they don't need Price today then both Stroman and Price are available in game 5. One can pitch a couple innings of relief. You never know, game 5 might be another 14 inning affair and both will be needed.
  9. Good point. I want a game 5, I just have more faith in Dickey than others, especially since David Price can be brought in at any time. I also believe in the Blue Jays' offense.
  10. So if the Blue Jays throw out David Price today then that decreases the Blue Jays' chances in game 5. Is there any reason for winning game 4 if the Blue Jays lose game 5; one more game to watch but not really what fans and management were hoping for. David Price is available to pitch if needed.
  11. I wonder if Texas management is getting worried. If Beltre still has stiffness and pain in his lower back it will affect both his hitting and defense. Here is a link regarding the Beltre addition. He will be batting 3rd.
  12. Astros - Royals; something to fill in time before the real game starts at 4 pm. Perez makes it 2 - 0 for KC.
  13. I think fans should relax. If by chance the Rangers get ahead by a couple of runs early then David Price will come in to pitch. But if Dickey has a good game and the Blue Jays have a comfortable lead then both Price and Stroman will be available for the 5th game in Toronto. That gives Toronto a better chance to win the deciding 5th game if it comes to that.
  14. I like the lineup. Maybe after sitting out yesterday, Russel Martin will have a big day. The Blue Jays will need to get ahead early, otherwise there will a lot of very nervous Blue Jays fans. Win or lose, we get to look forward to one more game this afternoon.
  15. Gibbons made the correct choice in going with Navarro last night.
  16. Over Dickey's major league career he has only given up 1.10 hr/9 innings (1.05 HR/9 this year) 2.8 walks/9 innings (2.56 BB/9 this year) - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1245&position=P. Which is not bad at all.
  17. In spite of what anyone thinks, I enjoy watching Dickey when his knuckleball is working (which it usually is) and I am looking forward to watching him pitch this afternoon.
  18. Who said anything about the "Dickey effect". As hard as it is for some to believe, Dickey has pitched well since the All Star break, he has in the past won the Cy Young award and just as Estrada did last night Dickey might help the Blue Jays win the game. Have you forgotten that the Blue Jays lost game 1 that Price threw and he has a 0 wins - 6 losses record when starting in the playoffs (just 1 win in relief). David Price pitched well in game 1 but he is not invincible as can be seen from his playoff record - http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/priceda01.shtml. Starting Price doesn't mean a sure win, it might not even mean a better chance of winning than with Dickey starting (I think it is a toss-up).
  19. Are you an American? If not, have you ever been to the US? It sounds like YOU have a real inferiority complex. I have been to the US many times, and would never want to live there. Visit, yes, but not live there. I don't recall stories of African Canadians fleeing Canada to move to the Southern US. I don't see millions of Canadians with very poor health care, I don't worry that any of my children will get shot, the Canadian education system is far superior to the US education system .....
  20. Not really. Dickey might have a great knuckle-ball that is almost unhittable and a few Rangers might still get on base. I think we will know early on in the game whether Dickey has it or not, but he needs some freedom to make mistakes just as Price or Stroman have. He should be pulled once he makes two or three mistakes in a row and there is little chance of him getting out of it without giving up a few runs.
  21. I don't think it has anything to with an inferior complex of Canadians. Most Canadian realize that Canada is far superior place to live than the US. PS: Canadians just get frustrated because so few Americans realize it.
  22. It is going to depend on the score. Maybe the Blue Jays will be up by 5 or 6 runs by the 6th inning and the Blue Jays can use their usual bullpen. Then both Price and Stroman would be available for the 5th game. They could start Stroman and have Price as their left-handed reliever in game 5. I think it is a good call by Gibbons to go with Dickey. Colabello has come through for the Blue Jays in the last 2 games when many doubted him, Navarro came through tonight behind the plate and in the batters box, Estrada pitched a great game tonight and Dickey can come through tomorrow the way he has been doing since the All Star break.
  23. All Blue Jays fans will go to bed happy and will get to see at least one more game tomorrow. Thank you Blue Jays.
