  1. Not good to read this...they moved Smith to 2b in Fall League
  2. Hoffman's college coach was just 590, comparing him to Chris Sale. He coached both at different times
  3. Certainly is messy...going by what was said in article, can't see Jays as tampering(unless there's more to it). Article said somebody acting on Jays behalf called Williams, but they don't know who it was. Wasn't Ed Rogers. May have been one of his guys or may not of.
  4. Sounds more like bad handling of Beeston that tampering. Since it is not known who called Williams. How is that tampering...White Sox went public Jays had asked and were denied because of timing. Could have been member of media or anybody looking for a story who called Williams/Duquette.
  5. Do you credible link? He asked the White Sox on Williams, CEO would have to be total imbecile to approach DD without permission first.
  6. Compensation should have been decided when Jays got permission to talk to DD.
  7. I didn't want AA bought back for this season but must admit he has had a good off season. Seems like he has learned/evolved. An example would be Martin. He could of had Martin 2 years prior when Yankees let him go but chose Arencibia instead. He's learned to put more value on player's character and durability. Paid the price to make Oakland trade instead of trying to get deals on players with issues like Escobar or a Rasmus. No rumours on acquiring consistently injured players a Josh Johnson or Morrow.
  8. No, Jays wouldn't be that stupid. Even I know of the tampering charges risk. Surely Jays would
  9. This has to get done. Can't imagine O's going this season with a GM they denied chance at Pres. somewhere else. By holding out for ridiculous ransom. Wouldn't be good inside their front office. Don't believe the tampering rumours neither. Jays wouldn't be that stupid, everybody knows you have to go through proper channels when first expressing interest in DD. Also, doubt the Hoffman thingy. Doing back door tactics to get around league rules on trading picks, plus keeping him in our farm system for 6 months, start develop premium prospect for Orioles. Not a good way for team president to start.
  10. Seems so dishonest to go around league rules like that. Then we have to keep Hoffman in our farm system until July. Has a bad vibe to it.
  11. That would be circumventing league rules.
  12. That ended that awful quick
  13. Can't trade draft picks for 1 year.
  14. Doesn't sound like Lawrie's injury history bothered Beane. Then again, Beane has done some odd things lately. Like risk trading his cleanup hitter in height of pennant race
  15. Everybody knew Cabrera was gone went they signed Martin. Jays don't have that kind of money to keep both. Why they traded for Saunders.
  16. They probably keep Sanchez as closer unless they find a taker for Happ.
  17. Beane has eye for finding gems. If he can keep Lawrie healthy, Graveman should be mid-rotation starter, and Barreto lives up to expectations could be good for Oakland. But no way Toronto can lose on this one.
  18. In 10 years though it will be like 15 million in today's dollars. But still huge for 40 year old. Not many top hitters will come to Toronto...tough call
  19. Wonder if this could actually be about Joey Votto? Anthopoulos would know early on Bruce don't want to come here, last thing he wants is somebody who doesn't want to play here. Votto has a terrible contract, and has both physical and mental issues, but could be on the market due to Reds wanting to cut costs. Votto like Martin are one of few big names who will come here where he is from Canada.
  20. Cincy going to want to move salary so young player going other way. I wouldn't move Sanchez or Stroman. A lot of outfielders being shopped besides Bruce. Upton, Kemp, Ethier to name a few. NL outfielder last one we brought in suppose to be all that, Rasmus was terribly overrated.
  21. I stopped listening to Law awhile after the Halladay trade. He went on 590 saying how great prospects were...Wallace was going to hit well at Rogers because he hit at every level including college. Drabek was going to be backbone of staff for a decade, TDA was top catcher prospect, so far ahead there wasn't a distant second. Well, TDA wasn't even as good as Gomes, Wallace couldn't hit major league pitching, Drabek blew his arm out, again. Yep, Law knows what he is talking about...
  22. Hutchinson I would offer up but not Stroman or Sanchez
  23. If these fans call Navarro fat....what would they call Sandoval?
  24. LF no question...Melky was a good hitter.
