  1. Sanchez's stuff looked much better in the pen, when he could just go out and let it fly for 15-20 pitches. Than a starter when he had to tone it down to last 7-8 innings.
  2. Thought he was better today than Martin looked in New York
  3. Jeez, I hated that guy...seemed like he killed us. Clutch hit everytime
  4. Donaldson didn't do much better...he struck out 3 times
  5. If he had options left why would Chicago put him on waivers?
  6. Last piece of the Halladay trade. As big as it seemed at time we didn't get much out of it. I remember a few days after the trade Keith Law on Fan590. Saying how good this trade as for Jays. Original deal Gose wasn't in it, a kid named Wallace was in original trade. Law was saying how Wallace was going to hit, he's hit the heck out of the ball at every level. Then he said Drabek was going to be one of main stays in our rotation for next 5-10 years. TDA was best catching prospect in baseball. - boy was he ever wrong.
  7. Couldn't they send Osuna down instead? Let him get stretched out as a starter in minors in case of mid-season injuries to one of our starters. Also, get an extra year of team control on him where he wasn't with big club all season
  8. That may be good trade for both clubs. If Graveman is good starter, they can keep Lawrie healthy and Barreto lives up to expectations
  9. That was a good trade. Wish we had kept Lyons as he was pretty good here. Carpenter also, I remember him pitching well in Atlant.
  10. Not much difference in the stats. Shields career ERA is 3.72 compared to Buehrle's 3.81. Shields WHIP is 1.22 compared to Buehrle 1.28. If anything Buehrle likely better pitcher considering Rogers Center. His HR9 with Toronto 0.9, and HR/FB 5%. When Shields was at Tampa HR9 was 1.1, his HR/FB was 9%. Which will jump at Rogers. Shields much better off at non-homerun ballpark. He's #3 starter at Rogers. Shields history at Rogers Centre not good. He's had 10 career starts, a 4-3 record, 4.09 ERA. But 20 home runs allowed in 70 innings.
  11. Norris be in AAA and Sanchez closer....pass!
  12. Payroll be way high and he had trouble giving up flyballs before, could be kiss of death at Rogers. Then we have to give up a draft pick and take a starter spot away from Norris, Sanchez be in the 'pen for sure then.
  13. Blue Jays had number of young arms, needed a veteran Cy Young winner to go with them. Just picked wrong one. Dickey not as effective at Rogers as he was in NL. But not total loss as he is solid #2 starter
  14. The Blue Jays have been in contact with the representatives for Francisco Rodriguez, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.
  15. I wouldn't say second half stats are fool's errand....but something that should be checked out. I remember Bautista had 10 homers in Aug/Sept one year. Next year he exploded for 54 despite never hitting more than 16 any previous season in his career. An astute observer would have noticed change in his stats before he broke out.
  16. You make it sound like one or the other. We still have 6m in salary room. There's room to get depth in the pen and keep Navarro. Jays not going to get top reliever for Navarro's 5 million. What's more an extra year out of Martin or middle reliever? Travis should have 2b as glove is there, offense not a problem on this year's Jays.
  17. Navarro may have value here...as he allows Martin more days off and gives team depth in terms of injury. Martin is 32 with a lot of mileage. Catching 110 games in 2015 may allow him another year on back end
  18. Too much is being made of bullpen. They are unpredictable. A full year ago our bullpen was suppose to be our strength. Which quickly turned into our Achilles heel. Two years ago bullpen was projected to be weak, it was outstanding. Janssen and Delabar had a great year Cecil came out of no where.
  19. Well, CEO and Pres. he runs the team. Why Rogers go for baseball guy instead of financial guy, with Anthopoulos in place, signal that Rogers are angling towards post-Anthopoulos regime?
  20. I get the sense they wanted somebody to either aid Anthopoulos, or take his place as GM. As Beeston is financial guy, while they aimed for baseball guys as his successor.
  21. I think this may come up again at end of season. Find it hard to believe O's would block his advancement like that
  22. He may go back, that was before Travis trade
  23. Sounds like your job is to critique the Jays. Going be lot more re-new talk on Hoffman after Duquette incident.
