  1. Might be a slight advantage there but hardly worth making a column over
  2. I would aim for team to have best outfield possible. The best teams we ever had here had great outfields. Both the '85 and '92 Jays had most wins ever here with best outfields we ever had. Bell/Moseby/Barfield or Devo/Carter/Winfield. Those teams had stars elsewhere but holes in lineup also. Manny Lee and Gruber, Borders on infield, or Mulliniks with Garcia and Upshaw. Not like those guys were all-stars.
  3. If another team claims him how much we save this year...3 or 4 million?
  4. Morrow debut tonight...tomorrow he be on DL again
  5. Hasn't gave out no bad contracts...what dimension you living in...must be nice. What do you call Ricky Romero, Morrow, not pursueing Darvish. I think he is terrible handling contracts. Rasmus is a headcase...doesn't care if they win or lose, some days even if he shows up. AA never gave up much for him because he's a nutbar. Why build on players like that...very few teams would want that
  6. But its a top 10 pick
  7. Anthopoulos has lost a lot of trades and handed out bad contracts. Fleeced on the Halladay trade, Dickey has not worked out, Josh Johnson was a miserable mistake, Napoli he gave a good power bat away, Yan Gomes he never recognized talent under his own nose, Rasmus another mistake I don't think he has it to turn this team into a winner. Spent tons of money but this team does not gel.
  8. 6-16 so far in August! Any chance we can end up with protected pick next June?
  9. Pitchers don't have to face DH in NL, but automatic out in 9th spot instead. Gets even worse if he goes to homerun hitters park, even worst would be moving to tougher division. Worse again if his walks are high or gives up few too many hits. Only way be different is if he has fluke career year or goes from pitchers park in AL to hitters park in NL. Middle relievers also don't seem to be affected as much.
  10. Get better look at Pillar as he likely in OF next year. Odds are Rasmus and Cabrera be gone
  11. Graveman is like Yan Gomes or Loup...wasn't on the radar screen but is a good prospect.
  12. Where he switched leagues and got out of homerun hitters park in Rogers...most pitchers have better statistics in NL than AL.
  13. NL pitchers give up so many more homeruns moving to AL their era spike crazy. Why so many #1 in NL are #3 starters in AL. And visa-versa. They are 2 totally different leagues. Even Jeff Samardzija HR9 has doubled since coming to AL. Increasing his ERA to around 4, and that's playing in Oakland. Nightmare to think if we gave up a bluechipper to watch him pitch at Rogers. While Alvarez can do so well in Miami compared to Toronto. He doesn't give up any homeruns. His HR9 is 0.4 in Miami compared to 1.3 in Toronto. He's giving up 1 homerun less per game. Which is dropping his ERA a full 2 runs.
  14. We've had some pretty crappy drafts recently
  15. I would give Jenkins a few starts and rest Hutchinson. See if Jenkins can start. Hutch's stuff is not the same as it was in May. He's never pitched this many innings before. Coming off TJ he may not be built up enough to with stand a full season yet.
  16. Chances are Jays will stumble out of gate next year, doubt he will make much improvement over winter, which should take care of Anthopoulos and Co.
  17. I don't know what his dWAR is..lol. I always wanted glove and range at shortstop. Playing on turf ball is faster and they handle many defensive plays. Also can sign those kind cheap, use the cash elsewhere to pad the offense, compensate for lack of offense at SS.
  18. Can't count on prospects like Pompey though as most will fail or underachieve. Travis Snider they called him up one year, he hit heck out of the ball as a 20 year-old. Every poster was saying he be a superstar by 24-25. Looked like that until scouts figured out he couldn't hit major league caliber breaking pitch. Brett Lawrie another year he was our top prospect, every poster wanted him called up. Wait another 15 days that way we have his rights extra year on other end they were saying. Nobody took into consideration he's a piece of glass. Kyle Drabek the key of Halladay trade, was going to be backbone of our rotation for next half decade posters were saying. Until he got to major leagues and blew his arm out. Travis d'Arnand I remember Keith Law saying on FAN590, TDA was best catching prospect in minors. Not even a distant 2nd best he is so far ahead. He's now barely above a replacement level player with the Mets. Dustin McGowan was once best arm to come thru our system. The list is long, majority of top rated prospects will not live up to expectations. I would estimate 1 in 5, 1 in 4 be tops go on to do what is projected. There are some back rated prospects, not on radar screen who do have decent careers. Guys like a Loup or Yan Gomes.
  19. Like I originally said...he reminds me of Carlos Gomez. Gomez never hit over 8 a season until his 4th year in league. Now he's hit over 20hr a season for last 3 years. Gose hit 16hr one year in minors. Yes, I see a little power potential there. Gose one of those types who seems to be evolving his game.
  20. I think Gose can be another Gomez type player. Carlos scuffled with the bat his first few years in the league. He will never win a batting championship but has developed into an all-star, Gold Glove, 25hr/40sb centerfielder. If they give him the chance.
  21. I was on PSD a few years ago. But haven't been there since 2011 or 2012ish. Wasn't much there. I had another account here but forgot password, the email I had with that account is gone, so did another account.
  22. Went to Baseball Reference to get stats on Santos...they have no minor league stats for him in 2014. Wanted to see how he was doing down there
  23. Jays do it to free up some money for off season and they always liked Beckham. Sox do it to bring Buehrle home for his swansong and he is best pitcher they can add without giving up much as free agent starting pitcher market is thin this winter.
  24. Jays system sounds deep in good prospects. But I remember hearing this a few years ago. When all we heard was Nicolino, Drabek, Lawrie, Marisinick, combined with first rounders like Anderson, Comer, McQuire, etc...
  25. If Jays are out of race by Aug 31.st, Buehrle for Beckham be good trade for both clubs
