  1. The two flaws in you arguement is that trading for high priced players means you pay top $ and still lose prospects. Free agency is the better way to go. Secondly when was the last time the Blue Jays used the Tampa model and traded a Bautista type players when he had value? Remember Colby last season? He should have brought a great return, now he will walk away. AA and Rogers are more worried about perception then winning.
  2. We might be a dead last team but we would have a payroll of about $60million. AA didn't trade for Melky or Navarro so he could have traded Colby last year and Melky this year adding more young controllable talent for the long run AA promised before the Miami trade. Synagaard. Sanchez. Hutinson and Stroman in the rotation costing 2 million total wold be a great start. If Buerhle isn't moved the team will continue to have no flexibility and will be the .500 franchise it has been for the last 20 years. I'm sure most would agre that spending more now to win or blow it up and start over. I can't stand to watch another 20 years of .500 ball.
  3. It's easy to be the class clown in the back of the class criticizing everyone but clearly to scary to step up give an opinion.
  4. What I was asking is why has he only played 14 baseball games this season if he doesn't start football until the fall or later summer?
  5. Does anyone know if Anthony Alford is finished with Football? If so why has he only played 14 games this year?
  6. The thread is "How would you blow it up?" I know this wont happen but that is where I would start.
  7. That's not Gallo either.
  8. With that logic Norris should get us Price.
  9. Sanchez, Norris and Pompay is the asking price for Price ( 1 year of control and $20 million dollar salary) but my offers for Bautista makes you laugh? Are you ignoring the fact that Bautista has two years left after this one at $14 million?
  10. AA isn't going any where. Rogers is about TV ratings and $ earned. AA has done a great job on both accounts. The problem is he deviated from his plan and made the Marlins trade causing a fan frenzy and his rebuild took a back seat.
  11. Bautista to Rangers for Profar, Gallo plus or to Cards for Taveras, Wong and Adams. EE to Seattle for Walker, Peterson plus. Buehrle and 10 million each of the next two years for Dozier Reyes and 10 million each of the next two years to SF for Crick Jansen to Tigers for Devon Travis Dickey and 5 million each of the next two years to Pirates for Glasnow Cabrera. Rasmas and all others with expiring contracts would be available. Given that I just brought the pay roll to about 50 million I then sign every every Latin American player next year and pay the penalty.
  12. First time poster: I agree with Blair. The QO will be about 15 million and AA will not get approval to give either of them 15 million for one season. I think AA doesn't have the freedom to make the moves he wants. He got the fan base excited with his approach to the draft (trading to acquire B level FA to let them walk and get extra picks) and signing international FA. He moved Wells' contract and was looking the best GM ever (should have stayed the course). When the Marlins trade was offered I think AA assumed he would get some veterans and still have the money to continue to shopping for talent. Jays players offering to defer money so they could sign Santana clearly shows that he doesn't have a budget he has to ask for permission. Not knowing if money can be reallocated makes it very hard to build a team. If he knew he could spend $138 million for 2014 then it would have made since to trade Colby (value was high) for prospects and sign Santana and money wouldn't have been an issue. AA is not perfect but Rogers is holding him back.
