Alejandro Kirk is one of four players in the Blue Jays farm system this past three years to be given a 70-grade hit tool (or 80) by Baseball America. BA also came out to say he just missed their pre-season top 100 rankings (a few staff voted for him).
The other three:
- Vlad Jr
- Bo Bichette
- Austin Martin
His plate discipline is Biggio-esque with higher bat-to-ball ability. Surprising amount of pop in his bat, but more doubles than homers, more pull side and line-drive power. High on-base skills and zone recognition. Quick compact swing. He’s completely untested in double-A, so this is unprecedented for a catching prospect. Arm is also pretty decent, defense has made strides this past year.
