  1. I guess Blue Jays won him over with a 7 year deal. Looks like a low risk high reward move
  2. Where would he slot in the prospect rankings? His numbers look decent but he's looks a bit old?
  3. 5th-8th in payroll would put them between $163-$183 mill.
  4. Bautista wants multi year and 20m/per not happening.
  5. Don't think 160mill is enough win the division without getting super lucky with some value pickups. Especially when our premium FAs would likely goto rivals in the AL. I think the Jays can realistically give EE a competitive offer only if payroll is ~170mill. I read somewhere the season ended with a payroll north of 150mill, which means ~10-15% payroll increase would be necessary for such a scenario. They're starting at the ballpark @120mill after arb pay raises and picking up Grilli. There's just not enough help from the farm, which means too many holes to fill with ~40mill payroll to play with, that's assuming EE, JB, Dickey, Saunders, Cecil all walk. Signing Edwin alone would eat up more than half the flexibility. They'd still need 1-2 OFs, 2-3 Relievers, and a backup catcher, and hopefully one or two of them being competent left handed bats.
  6. The chance of having Edwin stay for 4 more years with decent production, getting another year or two of playoff runs and potentially retiring his number at the end appeals to a lot of fans. There's value there that goes beyond 42 homers and 127 RBIs. The smarter thing is a probably going after Fowler, signing a reliever, and find a value replacement at 1B/DH with slightly more money they'll have throw at EE
  7. Would love to sign Edwin for 90/4 even without options but don't think it's happening
  8. Doesn't surprise me. Two or three teams might be willing to bite.
  9. Same. I think much of the heavy lifting to fill those positions will come from trades, taking in salaries, purchasing prospects from other teams (e.g. Liriano deal).
  10. Not a bad list. Thought Urena would be higher. Have high hopes for Tellez and BoBi, Jays haven't had real major league bats moving up the farm in awhile.
  11. Why is dickey even in the discussion? Serious question..
  12. Any potential for his offense to be back @ 2015 levels?
  13. Bring back the Cy Young award to Toronto next year
  14. I know he's on the wrong side of 30 and has a herniated disc but I can get behind extending Estrada long term.
  15. Finish Him!! And send drones to take out Bauer for game 7
  16. Justin Smoak is getting half that...........
  17. Most likely so the DH spot becomes a revolving door for pinch hitters
  18. Sanchez proceeds to pitch a complete game shutout
  19. They have scored 1 run the past 18 innings. Anything short of Clayton Kershaw and you won't win a game like that. Bats wake the F*** up
  20. Blue Jays HQ: "we're running out of bad contracts on our books next year. Let's sign Smoaky 8 mill/2 years." *proceeds with QO to Edwin* Edwin: "I want 25 mill per year for 4 years" Blue Jays HQ: "sorry 20 mill and 3 years is the best we can do. We'll take the draft pick." *EE signs 125 mill / 5 years with Red Sox* *Smoak becomes everyday first baseman & signs endorsement with booster juice* *Rogers 2017 ratings down 40%*
  21. Praise Gibby! He actually did it!! This change is going to make a huge difference in this series
  22. Tomlin sucks. A couple good games to end the season, but his general body of work is awful. Doesn't strikeout much, gives up a lot of HRs & high SLG%, s*** against righties, worst at home. Half his games his FIP was over 5. He wouldn't even make the Jays 40 man roster.
  23. Rogers secretly planned to lose game 1 to guarantee 3 home games to sell more tickets! While increasing the domestic demand for alcohol and drug use
  24. Game 3 4 5 being in Toronto against their spotty rotation could be a momentum shift though
