  1. The dude missed a whole year with a broken arm. He made it out with a decent line and four limbs intact, I’m happy.
  2. Nope listened on radio and followed on game day. Josh Winckowzki also still going strong. And Vlad has his first hit, single to left field Edit: moves to third on a single from Williams and scores on a single from Warmoth. Noda another RBI single. Wowsers. And add 2 stolen bases to that.
  3. Not surprised Pearson is a tad rusty, but his stuff is absolutely electric. Fastball 95-100mph, often touching 99. 87-89 slider, high 70s curve, and a change up. His stuff is video game. Had a little bit of trouble in the 3rd inning, but you can sorta blame Vlad for giving them an extra out by slowly throwing to 1B—the single should’ve been an out, which extended the inning. Still only gave up 1 ER. Pearson finished 5.0IP 4H 1R 1BB 6K 1.80 ERA Ryan Noda is actually looking good. Even on the time he strikes-out he gives you a high quality at bat (8 pitch AB where he drew a 3-1) Also had a RBI single. On a side note: lots of people getting caught stealing up and down the farm
  4. Wow Cal Stevenson with a dinger wtf
  5. BA bumped Bichette to no. 7th on top 100
  6. He isn’t overpowering but mixes it up pretty well.
  7. I can see Biggio do some serious damage in Yankee Stadium
  8. Bisons lineup look legit. Adding Vladdy to that is just unfair. Waguespack not too shabby. 4Ks in 2 IP?
  9. Nate Pearson is starting tonight for Dunedin
  10. Updated my First Pitch App this morning Looks a bit cleaner than the old UI
  11. Josh Winckowzki opening day starter for Lansing First pitch 7:05 Patrick Murphy for NH first pitch 6:35 Buffalo opens at 2:05 with Jacob Waguespack Dunedin 6:30.. unannounced starter. Nate Pearson?
  12. It’s been written on the wall for sometime, but having Danny Jansen come out of nowhere definitely softens the blow. Pentecost actually wasn’t terrible last year, but still so far away from making the major league roster this decision was probably a good choice
  13. You guys do a great job by the way and have come a long way since ep 1. It’s great that the pod is posted on both iTunes and YouTube. On an aside, I’m a bit surprised the cats are still not on the podcast logo since they’re practically your mascot at this point
  14. We're not paying him elite money though, we're only paying him ~10M a year. You're paying Grichuk 10M a year and asking him to double his walk rate to 10%, keep his K% 25%, hit 30 HRs, keep his ISO over .200, get 80+ RBIs.. Those stats are asking for Justin Upton which is getting paid 106M / 5 year contract. We're paying him half that much and Grichuk is younger by 4 years (27 vs 31 yrs old). I'm not saying he's a 1 WAR player, I'm saying all he has to do is get 6 WAR over 5 years span to justify his 52 million, which does not seem that difficult for a guy entering his prime, especially if he can play a half-decent center field and stay healthy. The non-risky offensive skill set you're looking for will never accept a measly 52M/5 Year contract, especially not at the age of 27.
  15. I know we’re playing the Orioles but it’s nice to see some offense
  16. Grichuk reads the forum confirmed
  17. We’re trying to appeal to Vladdy to sign with us long term.. He wants to play 3B, and has been working on it in the minors for 3 years. He’s basically our franchise player for the next 7 years. It seems ill-advised crap all over his efforts before giving him a chance. I’ve watched him half a season in NH and a month in Buffalo and it’s not quite as bad as people make it out to be. Plus he’ll likely DH twice a week, so it’s not like you have a blackhole at 3B for 162 games
  18. Grichuk hits for power, compared to Pillar it’s not even close. Grichuk 2016 ISO .240 HR 24 2017 ISO .235 HR 22 2018 ISO .257 HR 25 Pillar 2016 ISO .109 HR 7 2017 ISO .148 HR 16 2018 ISO .174 HR 15 Grichuk if healthy has 30 HR potential. Pillar not even close, even in his best season. Grichuk is 27, Pillar is 30. Every deal has risk, but unless you’re concerned about him staying healthy there’s limited evidence to suggest he won’t even be a 1 WAR player. It’s always possible a player turns into a pumpkin after signing their deal, sure. But glancing over our farm system it’s clear we don’t have many elite outfield prospects on it’s way up, they’re mostly middle infield. Having some security at a position we’re thin at, from a player just entering his prime, is not a bad thing—especially on a reasonable contract. We had 2 more years of control so this is essentially a 3 year extension, not 5. At some point the front office needed to make a decision on who stays and who goes, this is just the second domino following the Morales trade.
  19. Well I guess it's also possible we try Drury in LF, but I heard last time that happened things didn't go so well. His bat would also have to justify it, and at this point.. not so much. He's a solid third basemen and will likely stay there
  20. I think Drury can be an everyday player, but I'm not sure it's going to be for the Blue Jays. I'm pretty high on him, hence I got Drury as one of my two 'new legit guys', but I'm not sure about his fit long term. We have too many infield prospects on the way up (esp. 3B) so unless Vlad falls off a cliff defensively I don't see it. He could move to 2B but we also have guys like Bichette, Biggio on the cusp that need playing time, along with Gurriel. Kevin Smith is also on the way up, it's possible him and Bichette will split time in SS/2B.
