  1. Game 2 Nate Pearson, pure filth. 1st inning: 1-2 count 100mph strikeout, 3-2 count 6 pitch popout to second, 2-2 count 101mph strikeout
  2. Not sure he is ever sober
  3. Hey look Pedroia is still alive
  4. I think he was Vancouver’s closer. His first start was excellent but not sure if it’s a one time thing out of necessity or they’ll continue letting him start.
  5. I thought he measured 6’2” 250lbs in spring training? Either way Vladdy is a big boy, but’s it’s not like he hangs out at McDonalds 24/7 or sits on the couch all day. The dude works out. Vlad’s daily meal plans are basically handled by his 80+ year old grandma that cooks entire pots of juicy Caribbean food for him on the regular and Vlad himself has a very healthy appetite to begin with. She’s been doing this since daddy Vlad Guerrero Sr was in the minors, and I’m not sure how the organization plans to get between Vlad Jr and his grandma. He can benefit from dietitians and trainers, and I’m sure he has them already. None of those fix the root of the problem. I think when Jr is in the majors and regularly flies across the country to play baseball games, the org will have better control of his routine management. But it ultimately will be up to the kid how he spends his offseason.
  6. It’s only been a couple days since the start of the minor league season. For those that aren’t following closely, here’s some names that are off to a good start in the first 4-5 games: AAA Buffalo 2B Cavan Biggio .438/.571/.938, OPS 1.509 P Jacob Waguespack 6.0 IP, 6 H, 0 BB, 8 SO, ERA 1.50 AA New Hampshire CF Joshua Palacios .316/.458/.526/, OPS .985 P Zach Logue 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 SO, ERA 0.00 P Yennsy Diaz 6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 5 SO, ERA 0.00 P Andrew Sopko 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 4 SO, ERA 1.80 A+ Dunedin C Riley Adams .385/.500/.769, OPS 1.269 3B Cullen Large .333/.474/.533, OPS 1.007 P Nate Pearson 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 SO, ERA 1.80 P Justin Dillon 5.2 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 5 SO, ERA 0.00 A Lansing 2B Otto Lopez .429/.529/.643, OPS 1.172 SS Jordan Groshans .417/.563/.583, OPS 1.147 P Josh Winckowski 5.0 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 7 SO, ERA 0.00 P Joey Murray 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 SO, ERA 0.00 P Sean Wymer 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 4 SO, ERA 1.50 P Cobi Johnson 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 SO, ERA 0.00
  7. I think the idea is that Alford will get more reps playing everday in Buffalo. I’m not a huge fan of Teoscar either but nobody is exactly knocking on the door to take away his playing time. Some people believe there’s a small chance he breaks out and develops into an above average bat if given regular playing time.. we will see. I’m not really buying it just yet.
  8. April 30 vs Angels Story break the night before
  9. So.. the last time we drafted top 10 was: 2014: #9 Jeff Hoffman 2005: #6 Ricky Romero 1998: #8 Felipe Lopez 1997: #5 Vernon Wells 1996: #4 Billy Koch In current standings, we’re picking 4th in 2020.
  10. Otto Lopez batting in front of Groshans and having a great game. 2/3 base hits, a walk, two stolen bases and a run.
  11. one-ply? what is this, Cleveland?
  12. Cavan Biggio with another monster game 1/2 with a triple, 2 walks. Starting the season batting .500, OPS 1.583
  13. Kevin Smith walked off the Fisher Cats 5-4 bottom of the 11th Vlad didn’t play today Bichette had 2 hits including a double Chavez Young had 3 hits including a triple Riley Adams had a good game, 3 H 1 BB 2 RBI Both Lansing and Dunedin had a great game
  14. Captain Kirk stole home? Was there a wild pitch that missed into the dugout?
  15. And a year ago he was still in high school. What’s the ceiling on this guy?
  16. I’m with you on giving Biggio a chance this year, but not until he shows he’s done with AAA. Yeah he’s a few years older than Bo and Vlad so we’re not in that conversation of manipulating his service time, by the end of 6 years he’s around 30. I love his walk rate, and his homerun power. He’s a valuable left handed bat & He’s likely a 2B/1B/LF kind of utility player, probably slightly less wild than Gurriel defensively. Once he shows good progress in Buffalo I expect a callup mid summer, maybe post-trade deadline, or if someone gets hurt. All else fails he gets here in september. I don't think Gurriel is necessarily blocking anybody. I do think there will be another round of house cleaning in July trade deadline and a lot of playing time will open up organically rather than forcing the issue. By that time we have some AAA plate appearances to look at and evaluate if he’s ready for the majors.
  17. They really should’ve been sellers at 2017, but waited until 2018 deadline. So I’ll grant you that. Probably could've gotten a bit more for guys like Donaldson. But in that alternate universe we are likely still a very bad team in 2019, maybe with one or two more good prospects. A lot of dominos would change but the direction would be similar. Even if you started cleaning house in 2017, your top 10 prospects would’ve still needed minor league playing time to develop. Bo and Vlad would still need their AA development in 2018 and AAA in 2019. Pearson would’ve still broke his arm. And even if we bumped up two or three spots in the draft for 2018, I am very happy we got the Groshans & Kloffenstein package. There’s only a couple guys drafted infront of him I would’ve rather have (hindsight of course) My point is, in 2019 in that alternate universe we are still rebuilding and a 75 Win team at best. I actually second guess this front office all the time, but usually can understand the logic behind their decisions. Don’t always agree with them though.
  18. They inherited a very old team. Sure, not all their moves were good decisions.. some were good (e.g. drafting Bichette, drafting Pearson, Diaz trade for Thornton, Leone & Green trade for Grichuk, not giving Joey Bats 5 years, flipping pitchers for prospects like S.W. Oh) some were debatable (e.g. Tulowitzki released, Martin trade, Happ trade, Osuna trade, Morales signing, Edwin situation, Vlad service time manipulation) some were just bad (e.g. Whole Donaldson situation) but these same things could be said about any GM, it usually a mix of good and poor decisions because half the time they’re just making an educated guess and don’t have a crystal ball. Yes some of their moves were questionable, but you can only play the hand you’re dealt. And hindsigh is always 20/20. They were dealt a pretty s***** hand—the farm system was depleted, the roster was old, and fans wanted another run with the old guys. What would you have done differently for that little bit more progress compared to what they did? I agree.
  19. According to Jim Tarabocchia the Dunedin broadcast guy it was a strike as well
  20. lol Demi Orimoloye 1H 2BB then Riley Adams homers. 11-1 Dunedin. When does the mercy rule come in effect? Update: Cal Stevenson with another base hit. 3/4 1BB 1K 1HR 3RBI
  21. Josh Winckowzki gets out of bases loaded 5th. 5.0IP 2H 0BB 7K 0 ERA Need to get our boy some run support
  22. Cal Stevenson with a 2 RBI double, after his solo homer and walk earlier. Super small sample size but the dude looks like a stud.
