  1. Kinda blows my mind this "don't mess with us" stuff from Texas fans. The team choked in last year's playoffs and then got "revenge" by literally hitting Blue Jay players.
  2. That looked like a tie, tbh. Super close. Deferring to the original call makes sense.
  3. You need a back-up middle infielder though, and at least Barney can put up a decent AB so Goins is basically useless. The team also has five OFs rostered.
  4. Yeah I'd love to have him too. I'm just saying the decision makes sense considering the team is skittish about Osuna's health.
  5. Making outs on the other team might be more important, though. A pinch runner has pretty limited usage. And there's always the grim possibility that innings need to be eaten, though. I'd rather wear out Tepera down by five late than a higher leverage arm. Then again, there are off-days so this might be because the team is scared to use Osuna too.
  6. The sac fly run against Boston on Saturday arguably would not have happened with another runner. The guy's fast. But I understand a PR having way less value than another arm out of the pen.
  7. So then we all agree if you're gonna start snapping pictures and dropping names on social media that we've just found a better target for the city's internet heroes.
  8. I was recently in London and wondered if there were any places that would show a MLB game. I didn't find any but I didn't really look either. I think I even passed by this Bodeans BBQ too at one point. Good luck! The early starts will even benefit you guys too. Until Game 3, of course. Hope you took Monday off.
  9. He should have faced the law for the crime, that's it. The social media campaign is sickening. Bartman interfering with Alou is on Bartman. The fact that you can't find Bartman easily is on society. It's a f***ing ballgame. This dude threw a f***in can. If it hits Kim square, what, a bruise? Yeah this guy is a moron but I sure hope nobody here has texted while driving because that's a lapse with way worse potential outcomes that you got away with. He threw a can at a sporting event. Let him get his fine or whatever and stop the hunt ffs.
  10. Gibby went to Osuna for 6 outs against Boston on Saturday though. Gibby will pull the trigger at trouble. Grilli in the 8th at home is a much smaller gamble than a sudden death inning featuring the heart of the Blue Jays order with Zach Britton chewing sunflower seeds in the bullpen.
  11. Tangent: after playing for the Yankees for like 14 years, Mattingly leaves the year before the first of four championships in the next five seasons. I hate when that happens. At least Thomas was still technically a White Sock in 2005.
  12. Between Game 5 of the ALDS last year and the Kim thing this year, Rogers Centre postseason attendees deserve a bit of s***. Pretty embarrassing that two of the first seven postseason games played in over 20 years have been delayed by adults throwing garbage on the field or at the other team.
  13. I haven't even seen the obvious hot take trying to defend him. I'd love to read one if it's out there.
  14. In lots of cases the Wild Card teams are better teams with better records than some division winners. Getting to the MLB postseason deserves a banner because the reg season is so grueling. Arbitrary division alignment shouldn't reduce that accomplishment. Last year's 97-win Cubs should have gotten a banner even if the 90-win Mets technically got the much more sought after division title (against vastly inferior competition though). The Wild Card is the 4th seed but I certainly don't think it necessarily means the 4th best team. The banners should trace the path through the postseason. For '92 and 3, the champs banners already mean AL Champ and Division Champ. With the expanded postseason that's not the case anymore.
  15. The first time my girlfriend heard the name "Camden Yards" she said it sounded like something you'd call a junk yard or a garbage dump.
  16. Glad to see another social media boulder roll over someone who may or may not have committed what is a fairly minor crime. I'm sure everybody who picked up a torch was very measured and discriminating in their judgment. He is most certainly guilty and hundreds of social media man hours have no doubt been put to effective use.
  17. The Marlins won the WS in 1997.
  18. Familia is going to be the postseason goat again. Come on, Mets. Edit: called it f***in Gillespie? Jesus.
  19. You think with the weight of playoff elimination staring the whole team in the face that Gibby, Osuna, and EE mind melded from different corners of the stadium to invent a reason to remove an ace relief pitcher from the ballgame?
  20. I didn't get a good look of what was going on on the bases during the play, but from the limited camera angle it didn't look like he had a good lead to third base. I'd say he probably got mentally caught between getting as much distance towards third and going back for a tag-up if the ball was caught. Honestly, it was tough, but he wouldn't have looked so bad if he'd just been waiting to tag -- then he could at least use the excuse that he was playing conservatively and that Bourn's muck-up changed things. I think it's fair to assume that ball should have been caught. Problem is he went half-measure on every potential outcome and looked like a goof. He wasn't waiting on second base to burst off following the catch either.
  21. But it's the situation though. People wanted Ubaldo when the prospect was shutting down the Jays for 4-5 innings to start the game. Absolutely zero people would have wanted Ubaldo over Britton in the circumstances that took place last night. The initial argument was never that Ubaldo was the best arm on the Orioles' squad.
  22. I'm dying @ "like Freaky Friday". I'd have gone my whole life without ever hearing or thinking about it ever again.
