    I don't think that's true, I think he f***ed himself giving away his catching prospects when he realized Navarro was never the answer. AA was trying to build a winning team, he was in win now mode or lose his job. The original plan was to then move Navarro for BP help which evidently we had no biters though I think everyone felt it was a good plan. I think he came very close to moving him, there was months of trade rumours.

    Martin didn't cost prospects and we never get a good free agent to sign here, that alone was exciting lol. He had also been a team leader, someone who's actually been to the post season many times and worked with younger pitchers like he did with Gerritt Cole (same age as Stroman). All that fun clubhouse stuff that can't be evaluated with number crunching. He also put up 9.1 WAR the 2 seasons prior with the Pirates with a 140 wRC+ in 2014. There was a lot to be excited about including penciling him in over Navarro who everyone felt was a solid back up and never a great starting option.

    yea Barney wouldn't pass waivers and I don't see a world where Shapiro would let Gibbons give any input on it.

    The cost of carrying Thole, arguably the worst 25th roster player in the league is enough to just go with Hutchison for 1/3rd the cost, have a legitimate back up catcher and skip the sideshow.

    Shapiro would do a cartwheel if he got an offer for Dickey.

    He's a free agent, if they are selling he'd have value if he stayed hot and others didn't.

    Mariners could use EE actually, even though Cruz is pretty much the semi-perm DH, Adam Lind has sucked monkey balls and needs replacing. Edwin would be an upgrade there and can still spend time at DH.

    It wouldn't surprise me if they get whooped by the Twins and Gibby is fired. Firing the manager is the go to save face move in sports when a team is heavily under performing 2 months in to a season and it's too early for trade talks.

    lol... I remember when Lawrie was hurt at the start of a season and they rushed him back without a proper rehab stint in desperation. He was Martin-esque for like 6 weeks.

    Looking back, when we were a .500 club I thoroughly enjoy the memory of destroying the Orioles like 30 games in a row over a few seasons or whatever it was. Probably mid 2000s?
