    Probably 95% of the time that's just doesn't happen... and you carry over a faster runner to the top of the order that you benefit from the entire game. Put it this way, if Justin Smoak bats 9th then every single plate appearance is in front of Jose Bautista & Josh Donaldson. I'm sorry but that's a much harder guy to drive in. The benefit of a Travis, Upton, Pillar type guy exceeds the difference of 7th/8th/9th order imo. This is really only the case because of the DH benefit in the AL, in the NL I'd have the pitcher 9th every game and every game Josh Thole plays regardless.

    No he believes Justin Smoak is the worst hitter in the line up and Travis is the second lead off man. To be honest, if you're not batting him 1-6th I'd probably put him 9th as well but why he's not leading off is because Gibby nnnnggghh

    Honestly if Martin doesn't want to catch him, I wouldn't even enter negotiations with Dickey at all. It's really that simple in my mind, cater to your #1 catcher not your #5 starter. We have other options in Liriano and hopefully they re-sign Feldman who can return similar results imo.

    I would rather just give Feldman an extension for that role and plus we already have Liriano for next year. No more pampering a 5th string starter.

    I don't think I trust Liriano much more than Dickey to be honest but if all things are equal and we get the same same results without having Thole in the line up... I think it's a no brainer to just put Dickey in the pen and never use him. Liriano is the back up post-season arm and roll with Martin/Navarro rest of year. I don't see any reason why Dickey deserves to be starting any more this month. I also really hate when people say look at the numbers, the number say he's inconsistent as ever.

    What are you arguing? Team's all season have 7 relievers (give or take).... there's no debate about this, it's stupid when a team has 12 in their BP in September.

    Naa, spend them wisely is the whole point. If you want to change pitchers 4 times in an inning, that's your decision you don't get extras when it goes to the 10th. Just like you don't all season.
