    A lot of that value is in his defence though where you can get a very good defenive catcher for cheap. While Martin is having an outstanding year I don't think anyone project him to be this good for the next few years..

    I think they start Kawasaki so they can put Goins in the game late for his defence. Kawasaki likely only gets 2 maybe 3 ABs anyway since the benches and bullpens are so deep and he will be PH for.

    Exactly I think there will still be a decent number of fans especially since the Cubs rarely come to Toronto. Add in the fact they have some of the best position player prospects and you will get an extra 5-7000 than a regular AL opponent.

    Thats not taking the knuckleball effect into account which has a real value. Obviously the trade hasn't worked out the way everyone wanted it to but Dickey has still been a mid rotation starter. There is a value to the immediate value Dickey provides since the Blue Jays are trying to contend while the Mets are not. Side note if the Jays decline Thole's option will they save any money if they brought him back anyways? Can't see another team offering him a contract so he might just have to come back to the Jays at league min. if he wants a MLB salary..

    Well Dickey has given us a bit of value as well so its not like the trade is really one sided.

    This. You need to upgrade the team as best as possible the cheapest way possible. If that happens at catcher, you do it. If its at 2nd base, you do it.

    There was an article saying he was working with him but you can't always make a bad defensive catcher into an average one...

    If the jays can win 2 of 3 I can see there being around 25 000/night for the Cubs series which I think would be pretty good for a weeknight in September. Maybe more since the Cubs are a storied franchise and don't come here very often, also have a lot of young talent who could be attractive to fans.
