I don't think you look at it like that comparing what happened in the past. You have to look at it solely as: Is Stro, Pennington better than Tulo, the pitcher replacing Stroman.
Really hard to evaluate with the rain. A lot of pitchers struggled in the game. Seemed to have a few command issues but the stuff looked pretty good. The Groundballs were great to see.
It is interesting to think about which one improve Jays team more in the playoffs. If you had to pick one or the other which one do you pick? This is for the playoffs only mind you.
A) Stroman with Pennington playing instead of Tulo at 2nd Base.
Tulo at SS with no Stroman in the roatation and likely Estrada in the playoff rotation.
I think Option A might increase your chances in the playoffs but Option B would be better over the full regular season.
Unless they offer something like 20 million/year I can't see AA leaving. He's got a young family and is Canadian. People like him don't seem to be swayed by a couple million either.
Its been known he wants to keep AA as GM and he will focus more on the president role not baseball operations. AA loves Toronto and Canada so I have a hard time seeing him go elsewhere if he's offered the GM role in Toronto.
