  1. Watch Dickey go 6 innings now and not give up a run lol. I feel like he can't generate enough velo out of the stretch. Whenever guys get on it seems like the inning just explodes.
  2. Saunders horrible throw didn't help there lol
  3. Nice to see 3 of the 4 guys hit the ball hard though. If they continue that the rest will take care of itself.
  4. Hes actually striking people out so far which is good. It used to be lots of walks and no strikeouts before so I'm encouraged by his start to the season.
  5. It would take a major increase in raw stuff for Stroman to just double his strikeout rate and considering his body size I can't see that happening. Kershaw introduced one of the best pitchers in his slider which helped the K rate surge and Kluber always had a whiff rate over 10%, I don't see how they compare to Stroman. I think Stroman can get his K/9 in the 7 range maybe even approach 8 but it seems unrealistic to expect it to jump up over 9.
  6. I don't think he has that ability. Even in 2014 when he was really good he only had 1 month where he had more than 8 K/9.
  7. One thing I notice while watching those videos is his breaking ball hasn't looked nearly as good as it did in 2014. His curveball had such nice break to it and he commanded it in a perfect spot. This year it seems like he either bounces it or hangs it way too often. And it pains me to say it but Navarro was the much better game caller than Martin even though he was a horrible pitch framer.
  8. I think people are concerned because this isn't happening. When he needs a strikeout he still isn't getting them like the Wieters and Hardy ABs yesterday.
  9. The funny thing is that if he could miss more bats his pitch count would be even lower. There's times where guys just continue to foul off 2 strike pitches because everything is low. If he could strike more guys out he would be even more efficient.
  10. Its not like Stroman has to completely change everything. All people are asking is he become less predictable. Instead of throwing everything down in the zone he should change the hitters eye level and throw a few 4 seams up. Stroman has said he tires to make hitters off balance and thats why he has tried the quick pitch so I don't see why he would balk at the idea of throwing more 4 seams to get hitters thinking about something else. It also might very well be a case he just isn't pitching as well as he did in 2014. It could be just his off speed pitchers aren't as good as they were before.
  11. Yeah people talk about Ross's contract but Carroll's blows it out of the water. Even when he was "healthy" he didn't look good. Given his knee issues I"m pretty scared about his future. Too bad because he seems like a guy with a tremendous work ethic and a great teammate
  12. Haha I honestly never click them but decided to in this case because I wanted to see what the casuals would say about Stroman. Your name gave it away.
  13. Btw I wouldn't post your thoughts in the comment section on SN. Most people who comment on those articles have no idea what they are talking about and its just painful to read.
  14. I think they were projected to strike out more than any other team this year lol.
  15. Just 4 Whiffs for Stroman tonight. That has to be one of the lowest for a SP this year.( While throwing 100 pitches)
  16. He's actually gotten a lot of whiffs on it (17%) which was surprising because by watching I thought its been really bad. But when guys have made contact they've smoked it (50% LD rate).
  17. That Machado AB was pretty telling. Sinker was actually just below the strikezone and he still hit it out even though it had great movement. Now obviously not many people on the planet can hit like Machado but still.
  18. I don't think you have to overhaul his philosophy or anything. Just throw a few more 4 seams up in the zone. Even if you throw it for a ball it should be effective because it changes the hitters eye level. Right now it seems like hitters can just key in low in the zone. Its a easier to hit if you only have to worry about half of the strikezone.
  19. There's a chance yeah but even if he didn't he can't call a balk in that situation.
  20. When have we heard the Jays FO ever say they wanted pitchers to pitch to contact? Stroman has mentioned it himself but it seems to be all his doing.
  21. Apparently if the batter steps out of the batters box you can't call a balk. Umpire didn't do anything wrong since JB stepped out.
