  1. Lol difference is Stroman actually has talent unlike Arencibia. Didn't Price call out Zaun when he was with Tampa.
  2. Coming into this year the contract still looked really good. Its been a bad few weeks at the plate but lets wait a few more months to see where he's at then. He's always been a streaky hitter.
  3. Can we stop with "he's an average framer now". http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1899493 2nd most runs saved among catchers this year and tied for 6th best in framing "rate".
  4. Even just throwing more breaking balls instead of changeups will be better. His changeup has been horrible this season yet he's throwing it more than his breaking balls. Last year he didn't throw many 4 seams but was very successful.
  5. Stroman actually did a pretty good job getting whiffs tonight. 10 swinging strikes on 95 pitches.
  6. Yeah I think it just takes some time for him to get comfortable and experience in dealing with roster moves. Dodgers is the only one that comes to the top of my head.
  7. Where did he say this? Watching him it sure looks like he isn't leaving anything in the tank.
  8. It looked like the Sox were relaying signs from 2nd which would make sense given how they seemed to be hitting everything that inning. Thole's sign sequences are pretty bad and even I could tell what was coming.
  9. Chris Paul broke his hand is likely out for the rest of the playoffs. Warriors should be able to beat them fairly easily even with Curry out.
  10. He hasn't thrown any fastball harder than 94.4 this year so I doubt you will be seeing 95 and 96 very often.
  11. The sinker still is probably his best pitch and no one wants him to get rid of it. Just throw it less and mix in his 4 seamer a little more with some more curveballs and sliders. I think people's expectations including myself were maybe too high for him. Ever since the injury his breaking ball just hasn't been consistent.
  12. Interesting, He does look like he gets pretty good extension from the mound. Curious to see what the numbers would be.
  13. I believe StatCast has it and we see stats every now and then about which pitchers have the best relative Velo but I haven't seen a full list of every pitcher so I'm not sure exactly what Stroman's is. I would imagine its fairly low though because of his size. Although maybe his spin rate is really high to make up for it?
  14. The other guy is probably already in Toronto. Usually they come up the night before.
  15. Someone from the FO should be communicating the message to the coaching staff then. Shapiro always talks about how important communication is so this is when it needs to happen.
  16. Stroman at 94 probably has a relative velo of like 92 though because of his size and extension.
  17. Another thing I've noticed his he's thrown his changeup a lot more and I'm not a fan. His curveball/slider has been great in the past and he seems to be favouring the change over them which I don't think I agree with. It seems to just float towards the batter and if its in the strikezone its a meatball. Less sinkers and changeups for more 4 seam/curveballs would benefit him IMO even if it resulted in a few more HRs given up.
  18. He threw a few cutters up and in to LHB and it worked really well. Even threw a 4 seam with 2 strikes up in the zone for a K in the 3rd I believe. Problem was Thole's gamecalling was terrible and Stroman actually had to shake multiple times to even get to those pitches. Part of the blame has to go on the FO and coaching staff as well. Its their job to communicated with the players an effective gameplan and so far it seems like we've seen nothing but sinkers down. It might actually be a good thing he's struggling a little bit to open his eyes that he needs to add a wrinkle to get hitters out more often.
  19. I agree he should be using more 4 Seamers, I was one saying this exact thing early in the season. I'm also saying his breaking ball hasn't been nearly as good as it was in 2014 so we shouldn't be expecting him to turn into an Ace unless his pitches improve.
  20. How many games have the Jays lost with a 4+run lead in the game? Feels like theres been 3 or 4 games already. Ugh
  21. You are overrating this "pitch to contact" thing. He just simply hasn't been as good. His fastball command has struggled at times and his breaking ball has been inconsistent. He's not going to turn into Kershaw by throwing more 4 seams.
  22. Well he's been a complete waste of a roster spot so far. He can't face any righties at all and isn't good enough vs Lefties.
  23. Venditte needs to be sent down. He's not even a MLB reliever at this point. Atkins needs to f***in do something
