Although I don't like the idea its fine to do a draft but don't raise the age to 18 keep it at 16. One of the biggest advantages of IFA is that you get that extra development time while they are so young. Pushing the age to 18 just makes it worse for everyone.
The hip injury this year scares the s*** out of me though. If he has to get surgery I'm pretty scared of making that big $ commitment to him. Tulo has never rebounded from his hip surgery. Donaldson also plays ridiculously hard so his body might be older than the typical player his age.
Even if he does that was a terrible contract from the beginning. Paid $25 Million for an average goalie. Lou made some stupid moves in the offseason with the Martin signing as well. Should just let Dubas do his thing..
If they were going to sign him to a long term deal you would think they would have done it last year when they explored it. I'd do 8/200 but doubt that gets it done.
Smartest move IMO is to trade him next offseason or at the deadline this year if the team is out of it. Maybe throw his name out this offseason to see if someone blows you away with an offer.
I think I'd rather trade Sanchez than Stroman because I feel his value around the league would be quite a bit higher. I think I'd rather see Happ be traded if you have to trade a SP though.
I've read he's got slow bat speed and that it will be tough for him to hit inside against advanced pitching. Makes sense on the surface but maybe he'll be able to adjust.
Don't forget the 10 innings in the postseason in which he didn't give up a run. He's not in the same tier as Miller, Chapman Janssen but he's in the next one. I don't think you can say Cody Allen is way ahead of him.
whyyyy. They're cool for Canada Day but they don't look that good especially since we are the "Blue Jays". Rather they have some form of the powder blue jersyes as an alternate.
Yeah EE wants to stay but so did Price. Whoever offers the most money is where he is going to go.
There seems to be this misconception that Shapiro is the one who is making all the baseball decisions. I don't think people realize he just has final say but its Atkins and the other AGMs shaping the club.
lol does anyone actually think there is a chance EE comes back? Its probably like 5%..
He's going to get 80-100 Million and this FO isn't going to spend that money on a 34 year old DH.
Only team I could see it working for and might actually do it would be the Rays but they would need to trade Archer. SP love routines so they would hate that setup plus if you have only one club using the strategy the SP on that team lose value league wide in FA and trades.
Basically you would need all of baseball to adapt.
Basically if you are a Season Ticket Holder the games that aren't played are put towards your season tickets for next year.
All the people who had flex packs and purchased on ticketmaster get refunded their money by ticketmaster. That is how it works I think.
Basically the draft and player development are under Cherington now. Like what Shapiro has done with the organizational structure of having set departments with different AGMs running different parts of the franchise.
One target I'd like in a trade would be Marcell Ozuna. In the past the Marlins wanted to deal him so maybe there is a fit there. He'd be perfect in RF.
Wonder if the Miami would do a 1 for 1 swap for Happ.
Well the argument would be is you address another hole on the team. If the team can trade an Estrada or Happ for a younger starting OF say like Marcell Ozuna you'd have to think pretty hard about it.
