  1. More people cutting cable? Or is it just because the product has been a lot worse? I'm surprised the TNF games aren't down more. Every game is almost complete garbage and its been that way for a while.
  2. FWIW Arden Zwelling on the latest ATL podcast said he spoke to an executive about Thames and said there was an issue with him last time he was with the Blue Jays. Sounded vague and I don't know if it was about PEDs or character concerns but it didn't sound like Thames was a Blue Jays target.
  3. Nice. Schedule is already out I believe. I plan on going to Wrigley in August when the Blue Jays play there. Also going to Tampa in February so going to check out Spring Training again.
  4. For all the talk about Desmond he had a worse 2nd half than Michael Saunders with a 65wRC+ and the defense isn't good in the OF. Zero chance I give up a pick and give him more than 60 million.
  5. Then the blue jays made a bad deal
  6. Yeah I see what you are saying. Even if they value those wins higher (For the Blue Jays those wins would be worth more than any other club since Rogers owns SN) I could never see this FO making a trade like that. There are much more efficient ways of adding wins than trading those 4 players for 2 years of McCutchen. And given the Blue Jays made a similar deal with Tulo I'm not sure they will want to go down that road again.
  7. It wouldn't be 5 extra wins though as if Cutch wasn't here there would be a replacement. Say you could sign Reddick for the same 14 Million, well then its an upgrade of 2.5 Wins which changes the outlook. You'd still have to replace Travis's production and given he'd be making league minimum you just created another hole on the team. Not to mention you are losing 3 big prospects...
  8. What are the dimensions of their new ballpark? Assume its a pitcher's park still?
  9. Cojo and Pat are much better? Powell is a better defender than Ross and Derozan but that doesn't say much lol.
  10. I like Cutch but there's no way I trade Travis, Alford, Pompey and Vlad for him. Maybe if he had 4 years of control but he's only got 2 years left like you said and you still have to pay 29 million. Even if you think he's a 4-4.5 Win player you only gain 2 wins from that deal over Travis plus you have to now find a 2nd baseman which is much harder hole to fill than a corner OF. Theres ton of OF FA out there.
  11. Factoring defense I don't see him as much of an upgrade over Darwin Barney ( can play SS, 2B, 3B even LF) to be worth 10 million.
  12. I'm not confident in his ability to play 2nd base to have him there, and I don't like the bat for LF. His defense has been pretty bad for 2 years now and for a guy turning 34 in July I don't expect it to get any better. Certainly am not moving Travis to accommodate him.
  13. Weird I honestly feel the opposite. I think his defense needs more work than his offense. He's extremely quick but he had a lot of blow by's in the game (not just Westbrook which obviously will happen) and it happened in the playoffs last year too. I think his finishing at the rim ability has improved a lot and while he's no Derozan he's certainly better than a lot of players. The shot seems streaky but at least he's smart. Basically takes a 3 or drives to the rim.
  14. Impressive win considering they started down 8-0 or whatever it was. Lowry and Derozan played really well, Patterson and Carrol found their shots. Powell had some nice drives to the rim (still needs work on the defensive end). Everyone had a great game besides Poetl. I wish the NBA had a 60 game season. Raps with 2 full days off surely helped with their performance and around the NBA the quality would go up immensely.
  15. I don't get this line of thinking. No Americans are going to come to the Blue Jays because of politics. They still will be Americans and live in the USA for half the playing season. A lot of players live in Florida in the offseason because of taxes anyway. Not to mention a ton of these players voted for Trump. Even players on the Blue Jays now are Trump Supporters..
  16. Pearce still strikes out quite a bit unless you are talking about Reddick. Pompey over Upton would be pretty bad. Upton can't hit RHP but is still very good vs LHP.
  17. Wow completely forgot Justin Masterson existed.
  18. Yeah or platoon him with Upton. I'd sign Pearce anyway to play a little 1st/OF and DH
  19. One guy who I think would be a nice acquisition and haven't heard his name once would be Matt Joyce. Could be a good platoon at 1st or DH and see a little time in the OF as well. He should barely cost anything too.
  20. I'd go with Reddick over Fowler. Should cost half as much when you consider the pick as well. Reddick had a .386 OBP vs RHP last year and would be fine a top of the lineup in a platoon.
  21. If Edwin starts sucking it all gets thrown out the window. People said that about Bautista, and after a few bad months there are fans wanting him to leave... Shapiro is smart and has said many times that while there is appeal of having a long tenured star, its moot if the team isn't any good.
  22. If it takes 4/90 to get EE I'd rather look elsewhere. With the amount of corner OF/DH bats on the market they should be able to sign a FA by giving him the most money and the deal still looking good.
  23. Agree about the payroll but they can sign other players than EE and be better.
  24. The eye test said the exact same thing for Edwin the first month. Bautista is a poor defender and unless he regains his arm should not play in the OF, but I still believe in the bat. I wouldn't sign both of them at those numbers under any circumstances. Much rather sign someone else and get at least 1 pick back.
  25. sounds like recency bias.
