  1. Certainly a good omen with Saunders start at the top, he had a great AB. That little mini battle set the tone for the rest of the guys.
  2. Need a blast now after Cola's bloop for the ultimate perfect inning.
  3. Even Cola, might be a good day indeed.
  4. Jays might be bringing the fire today.
  5. It's a s***** situation that we have to lose one or both of these guys and that we're pitting them against each other. Sigh if only their contracts expired in 2 more years (stupid 5yr rule finally came back to bite us AA..). On the upside we know if healthy we'll get max production out of them this final contract year and it'll be fun as hell to watch! Heck maybe we win the WS and it's the perfect sendoff, or we win and Rogers Jr bites the bullet and gives them both 4-5yr deals. A lot of people would be up in arms (and rightfully so) about giving max deniero for declining value but if our beloved Jose & EE brought home a title with potential for more would it be worth it? Although it's fun to forecast it's really hard for me to say who's going to age better statistically. Bautista is athletic and in better shape but has that violent swing and plays hard as f*** with his body finally slowing & breaking down recently as we've all witnessed. Eddy has that heavy frame (a la Big Papi) and will be protected more in an earlier DH role but he's had a myriad of fluky and irritating injuries throughout his career (unlike Ortiz) even though he's younger than Jose. Both are big game hitters although I'd probably tip my hat to Jose overall, he's a born leader and really seems to thrive off of pressure situations which is why I'm sure he'll command more money. All I know is we've been blessed to have these two side by side all these years. Gonna be very bittersweet this year but interesting to see how it all plays out.
  6. Fair enough. I was mainly thinking about Stro, anyone but Stro this season.
  7. That's it, you nailed it in the last sentence.. We should be ok but an injury or two and some garbage stretches by a few of these mediocre pitchers and we could be in serious trouble.
  8. Not worried about Stro he'll be fine. I think Estrada will be ok too, he developed some phenomenal chemistry with Navarro which might be understated but I think he's coming into his own at this point in his career. Dickey will be awful to start the season as usual but will pick it up in mid to late summer when the humidity helps his knuckler dance. Imo the real wildcards will be Happ (was his late season run with the Pirates a mirage?) and the rest of the guys. Will Hutch be hot garbage again? Will Chavez be a bust coming back here? Will the rest of the depth options be useless? Who knows maybe Sanchez will find his groove (and control) after putting on that muscle to snatch the 5th rotation spot..
  9. Gallardo's getting s*** on a little too much. I think he'd actually be a better fit with us over Happ as he's evolved into a decent groundball pitcher over the last few years. He'd be ok here with his old Milwaukee buddy Estrada (especially with this infield). The unfortunate X-Factor as mentioned was the pick tied to him. What's done is done so we have to pray for a decent year out of our starters. This rotation could potentially be a f***ing disaster but let's hope we get another solid year out of Estrada and renaissance years out of Dickey & Happ also.
  10. Everything that ailed the hitters was cured with Perez & Holland. Honestly I think Gallardo would've gave the Rangers a better shot but Hamels is beyond formidable in spite of the matchup issues. We can't get overconfident at all, the bats could go silent and Stro could have a stinker. I'll be nervous as f*** but cheering my guts out tomorrow!
  11. Hilarious that all the pregame talk was how Hutch is fine and all the criticism from the fanbase is unnecessary.
  12. 4 straight hits and runs allowed by Hutch, total shenanigans.
  13. Smoak dog needs to at least get a sac here.
  14. JB, JD, and EE need to rough up Colby here.
