  1. You should be watching Tim & Sid today..
  2. I don't disagree but what pitcher fits that mold besides Price & Hamels? If not you'd have to consider a rental like Lester and hope you can acquire him without getting squeezed too badly. Or you can stand pat and hope all the ducks line up with our injured players returning and the team catching lightening in a bottle to continue playing well and making the playoffs. And if that did happen I would fully expect this organization to open up their pocketbooks in the off season, if they cheap out now and luck into the playoffs there will be no excuses that will be acceptable next off season.
  3. No doubt, I would rather Price but I'm assuming he's off the market. If he becomes available within the next 48hrs I would be all over that!
  4. In regards to the Shark I think it made all of the sense in the world for them and also for us at the time (I believe we were leading the AL East), I take my hats off to the A's organization. The only thing comparable to that for us now is perhaps Cole Hamels if the Phillies are willing to eat salary as reported but I still couldn't see the Jays manning up and pulling the trigger (also I don't know if he's got a no-trade clause for here). I agree with your Milone proposal, I think he'd be a great addition if we can usurp him from the A's but I think that would be a very difficult proposition. I disagree with you here though, although I feel they are definite needs and especially going into the off season the Valencia trade and the return of Reimold, Lind, Lawrie, and EE as you mentioned should fill these holes. For the time being I think we need pitching help more, I feel we need a top 3 starter to bolster this lineup. We just don't have the horses right now to seriously compete in the playoffs (if we even make it there) unless we catch lightening in a bottle by having our supposed top 2 of Buerhle & Dickey play at their best and our young guns of Stro & Hutch play up to their potential consistently from here on out without any dips. It's a slippery slope imo..
  5. It is very high but it's also a very small window right now for this team, however I didn't realize we lose the draft pick compensation via trade. I've caught a lot of flack on this site for undervaluing prospects when bundling them in trade scenarios but we saw what the notoriously frugal A's had to give up for the Shark and personally I commend them for pulling the trigger. It's all about having the right timing and seizing that opportunity when it presents itself, these windows sometimes take years to unfold. What would you give up for him, or who else would you pursue? The frustrating part is Rogers lack of willingness to take on salary (or appearances of being this way).
  6. Don't get me wrong if we could give them Jairo Labourt, John Stilson, and Matt Smoral I would also say hell yeah! But that's probably going to be the cost or something like it and like I said we're in a unique position here. In acquiring Lester we also get the QO and draft pick compensation if/when he leaves so that helps a little. I probably am smoking a little something though, I'm dreaming about a deep playoff run and maybe an outside shot of us re-signing him too.
  7. If we could get Lester for say a package of Norris, Pompey, and Nolin I'd say hell yeah! Is it steep for 2 months of Lester? Probably. But we hold on to Sanchez & Stro and there is minimal monetary risk to Rogers, everybody wins (if we do in fact make the playoffs, if not then clearly it was an overpay). We're in a unique position to make a run at the AL East/Wildcard and beyond. With this scenario they don't cough up too much money and they don't gut our farm but they do give themselves a legitimate shot to go for it. I think this is a must risk and the time is now!
  8. That would be quite an upgrade in Lefties sending Happ back home. I like it but we'd probably have to give up Sanchez and a handful of prospects, and even with Philly eating salary I couldn't see the Jays making a move of this magnitude. I'm not really liking their body language and posturing at all, starting in the off season and right up to this deadline. Depressing..
  9. Nice thought but I couldn't see the Jays taking on such a long & pricey contract.
  10. A little expensive for a rental, they may jump at a prospect out of the top 3 to headline the deal but it really depends on what they get offered elsewhere. More importantly though would you pull the trigger, who would or wouldn't be sufficient to part with?
  11. You guys think we have a shot at Lester and would Boston send him here? What do you think it would take and what do you think is fair for a rental? He'd be just what we needed down the stretch..
  12. Beltre would be just what the doctor ordered for this team and a dream come true.
  13. Management will be politically correct and tip Dickey or Buerhle but it should be Stroman if he continually plays at a high level during the stretch.
  14. Clearly Happ after today's game.
  15. Probably hardcore Hutch disdain, I've seen him get beatdown in person too many times this year and it's jaded me. I know he's just a kid and coming off TJ but I don't think he's going live up to his potential or ever be a great one, just my personal intuition however hopefully I'm proven wrong..
  16. Hopefully he gets back sooner than later but I'm thinking bullpen is the best case scenario if he does make it back setback free this year. It would take a miracle of all miracles for him to come back efficient and rust free as a starter in time to put in meaningful games for a Wildcard push. Essentially we're stuck with Hutch & Happ for the duration unless AA pulls the trigger on a deal (highly unlikely imo) or Sanchez gets weaned into starting after a few more pen appearances (but they might not want to rush him).
  17. Buerhle pulled a Hutch last night giving up 6 in 6 (or under). Hutch has plateaued and coughed up the 6 in 6 his last few consecutive games but I'm hoping he turns it around and shows us something different tonight. If he coughs up yet another 6 in 6 that will be 3 straight and what other red flag will be needed..
  18. O's won't be giving him up, that's why this trade hasn't happened yet. It's essentially saying the same thing as the other article- O's want JDL and Rockies want Gausman but he's off limits and they won't cough him up.
  19. Yup even made it onto MLB.com.. If we can get someone better by all means but I think he'd a good addition. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb/colorado-rockies-arent-in-active-talks-about-drew-stubbs?ymd=20140724&content_id=86148486&vkey=news_mlb
  20. Re- Trolling or Lightly Trolling. Like I said fair enough and I probably won't make that mistake again here gauging on how this conversation evolved. And you definitely were being douchey and pompous at times but no worries I didn't really take offense to it, for the most part we had some decent exchanges. I get your W/L disdain and I'm with you, I think you misconstrued the context I used it in when I brought it up. I'm also in agreement when it comes to statistics for a proper barometer, etc. As for the Gausman link here it is so I hope that clears everything up now. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24635733/rockies-seek-gausman-for-de-la-rosa-orioles-not-biting-on-that
  21. Dickey definitely was an ace in NY, I don't know what happened to him here..
  22. Honestly you were being a little douchey and pompous GD. I mean my troll wasn't even that bad, it was pretty lighthearted in overhyping JDL and downplaying Hutch. It wasn't even that sinister and I came clean halfway through as we started discussing the merits of a serious trade and the abilities of the pitchers until you got all uppity.
  23. They haven't traded him to the O's yet because they want their best prospect so yeah why wouldn't they ask for Sanchez, they'd be stupid not to ask. What some people define as ace pitcher and what the technical term of ace pitcher is defined as are two totally different things.
  24. The humor for me was in the reactions people had to suggesting Hutch in that trade. And also how incredulous they were to Jorge De la Rosa which I found really amusing as I sincerely do think he's a good pitcher. Did I overhype him and ham it up a little when people started losing it over Jorge De La Rosa? Sure. Obviously I don't have a fetish for him or think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread but I do respect him and think he'd be a solid addition.
