  1. I'm just trying to gauge the level of backlash that could occur if the Jays don't make the playoffs this year, how many fans would disappear and what would be the direction of the team and corresponding fallout from this?
  2. Boston is really cashing in this deadline, there goes the Boston will be crap next year theory.
  3. I'm sure filthy stinking rich Rogers will find a way during a couple years of contention.
  4. Hahaha now you're speaking my language.
  5. What about trading the farm for 2 playoff runs with Price leading the charge at a WS?
  6. I'm not so sure, if we threw our farm minus Stro at them for Price I think they might bite. I could live with the outcome over the next 2yrs of chasing the title as opposed to having a team that was so close but didn't go for it when the window of opportunity was there.
  7. Ummm because where else better to hypothetically discuss our baseball team than on a Toronto Blue Jay chat site?
  8. What about Sanchez, Norris, Pompey, Nolin, and Smoral for Price? Basically it amounts to this year and next of playoffs and going for it in the Bautista, EE, Reyes, Lind all in their prime window.
  9. No doubt Beane has moneyballed his way to a position of power and has completely gone in the opposite direction now because he feels he's a few pieces away, kudos to him if it pans out. The AA situation was fairly similar in that he bided his time and also went for it feeling he was a few pieces away except he fell flat on his face. Maybe he could've spent his money wiser, maybe it was all just bad luck with Johnson, Romero, and Morrow completely flaming out. Ultimately we're still in this though, I really hope he goes out and gets a SP.
  10. Time for the Jays to shock the world and land Price.
  11. I posted that because of the humor and irony involved but seriously that's what they just announced on Sportsnet.
  12. Breaking news: After the Lester trade is announced the Jays say they're not looking for a short term fix as per Shi Davidi.
  13. Billy Beane has some big cojones. He's a genius if they win it all and not so much if they don't, I wonder how the A's fans are reacting? Pitching wins you games in the playoffs (hint hint Jays).
  14. Yup and all of that makes it even more depressing if tight ass Rogers doesn't open their wallet when we're so close to seizing this division.
  15. s*** will get real! Our cupcake schedule comes to an end starting with that series. 1 of 2 things will happen for us at that point- A) everything comes into fruition (team chemistry, health, overall synergy) and we'll make a serious run at the AL East title even though tight ass Rogers cheaped out at the deadline or We get beat down by Baltimore, Detroit, and Seattle revealing all our inadequacies kicking off a tailspin that eventually lands us out of the wildcard spot leading to mega fan backlash because tight ass Rogers cheaped out at the deadline...Ultimately this gets AA canned and leads to another rebuild/5yr project.
  16. If there was a time to pull this Lester trade off it's definitely now with us playing the Red Sox, I'm sure AA is doing a lot of chatting this series and It'd be great if he catches that flight out of town to Houston with us..
  17. I really like Sanchez...a lot! It would be a tough last minute decision. Hell I love that the Jays are in this position though.
  18. I don't like the thought of giving up Stro or Sanchez, for me even all the media buzz today pressuring the Jays to do something is a little too much. To give up Norris & Pompey, I say let's f***ing go for it! We have good young pitchers in Stro, Sanchez, Hutch (even though he drives me crazy) plus we have the old guard (Dickey, Buehrle, *Lester). I like that mix to make a run this year, yeah it sucks giving up Norris & Pompey but we're making a serious run here at a WS. In the offseason let's deal with the Dickey/Buerhle situation then dependent on how far we go this playoff run.
  19. Tim & Sid, Wilner, Ken Rogers @ MLB.com disagree, and now Casey Janssen (as reported today on Prime Time Sports). Me personally I think if that 1 piece is David Price it very well could be the difference of making the playoffs and especially increases your chances of winning the World Series. Does Lester do it? Perhaps but to a lesser degree. I'm all for the young controllable pitchers a la St. Louis Cardinals but people forget they had Chris Carpenter leading the charge for years. The motto today on all these shows for the Jays is we're in a real pennant race so let's go, and that's where I'm at...Let's Go!
  20. That's exactly how I feel, yes it's their business and they have to be fiscally responsible as it boils down to profit but you have to make some calculated risks dependent on the current potential opportunities that are available. Cough up the goddamn money!
  21. Huge fan of Tim & Sid but even I thought that was extreme, and I've been on here today suggesting it would be good to unload prospects without touching Stro & Sanchez. Both of his call ins (Wilner & Rogers from mlb.com) even suggested Sanchez for Lester.
