  1. Sounds like fun, especially if there's a little deniero in the mix.
  2. Yup I went against the trendy norm and took the Rays under too, I think they reside in the AL East cellar as the whipping boys and get there ass handed to them this year. 77 wins last year and that was with Maddon, Price, Hell boy, Myers, Joyce, and Zobrist on board. Sure they still have a great young staff & some potential breakout players but 2015 will be a wash for them imo. Also once I realized Yunel wasn't there I knew the party was officially over..
  3. I think you need a mix of the two like the St.Louis Cardinals which I believe is the blueprint AA is going for now after the failure of 2013.
  4. I couldn't agree more, my issue isn't with how much is being spent or is it enough but instead it's the empty promises of additional resources when that clearly hasn't been the case, you nailed it. I think a lot of fans (and players obviously) were heated at last years trade deadline after a full year of being jerked around by Rogers via AA in the press. The timing then couldn't have been worse to do sweet f*** all (the minor DV move aside) but it's a new year so we'll see what unfolds with Beeston's promises. For the moment I'm giving him and ownership the benefit of the doubt, we've got all season & the deadline so we'll see what happens. In sports sometimes you just need that extra push at the right time and hopefully they'll be committed to winning and backing up there payroll promises this time if the opportunity is there again.
  5. Why are you headhunting AA so much today? You realize that it's ownership that controls his budget right, I'm sure if he had the funds last year he would've pulled the trigger at the deadline. AA can be annoying because he's a master bullshitter with his double talk and smokescreens but ultimately it's Rogers who controls his finances. He's on the bubble this season so I'm sure he'll find a way to creatively spend every penny. Also I don't think ownership wants a repeat of last years debacle with the bad publicity and fan backlash so they might open up the purse strings a little wider to ensure a playoff birth.
  6. To quote the great Robert Plant (Dazed & Confused by Led Zeppelin)- The soul of a woman was created below.
  7. Umm Josh Thole hasn't been above replacement level since 2011 with the Mets. You're looking at his combined career total which is buoyed by his one decent year (2010).
  8. Hey who called in the party police? I was making a harmless joke in regards to Dickey's trademark 6th inning blues. I don't mind the old Dickster personally, he is what he is at this point. You want to see some real negativity try checking out a gameday thread on here when he's pitching. I too think Cecil has the vintage closer look with his goggles so I'm not sure what you were getting at there.
  9. It's possible but I'm not sure too many GM's want to pay a few million for a guy who puts up less than replacement type numbers and has no arm.
  10. Romero's a competiter, no one tried harder than him to come back but mentally he's caught in a nightmare and physically his body started to fall apart too. He just doesn't have it anymore, I'm sure he's seen tons of sports psychologists and worked with dozens of pitching coaches on his mechanics but his confidence is completely shot! All his life batters bit on his nasty curveball and then one day they just stopped swinging, once his bread & butter was figured out it left him dead in the water whenever he ventured back into the zone. I think this has left him devastated personally and professionally but then again he's a multimillionaire who's dating the former Miss America so I'm not feeling too sorry for him..Comparing him to Bernie Madoff though is pretty funny (that was a joke right?).
  11. Imagine Norris shreds up ST and wins a spot in the rotation. Could anyone have predicted this ascension 2yrs ago of all our young arms clicking at once.
  12. I would rather a Delabar bounce back as well but yeah it couldn't hurt seeing what Coke has to offer, the more we can bring in this ST the merrier. Rasmussen might also be an option for that 3rd lefty spot if he has a strong showing.
  13. Under: Dodgers Padres Nats Rays (I think they get worked over this yr minus Maddon) Over: Jays Astros Mariners Twins
  14. Padres are the sexy team this yr, kind of like we were in 2013.
  15. Speaking of Dickey I find it hard to believe Thole's option was picked up so quick, I know this happened ages ago but if it was declined was anyone really going to swoop in and grab Josh Thole?? Picture the flexibility AA would have now if he was signed to a MiLB contract going into spring training. If Martin can catch Dickey and Navarro stays on as the backup (which looks more and more likely) then AA could've saved almost 2M in salary by bidding adieu to Thole and his roster spot.
  16. I think AA is taking a wait and see approach because there's a lot of question marks in spring training in regards to the 5th starter/pen (Delabar, Norris, Estrada, etc.) and also the bench guys (Dirks, Izturis, Travis, etc.) Maybe he'll spend a bit more after the dust settles there or wait til mid season to address a glaring weakness via a trade where he can take on salary. He should have the flexibility to do so if needed this year, especially if a lot of things break right for him in ST.
  17. Yeah the Beezer already confirmed the current dollar would have no effect on payroll and it was definitely going up.
  18. I'm too lazy to check the figures but this should be a bonus to an already under utilized payroll. I believe if it really is going up to 140M then the Jays should have between 10-15M left to work with.
  19. Is there an over/under on how many bombs he gives up yet?
  20. Hopefully Estrada holds some value in the 5 spot and doesn't get jacked up constantly with the long ball. Did we sign Coke to a contract?
  21. Not very encouraging, super nervous about our pen atm.
