Lol the Gibbons crapshoot remark sums it all up. Besides stating the obvious that Castro shouldn't have been thrust into the closer role due to inexperience and lack of pedigree I think everybody's confidence is down in the pen. There's been a lack of clear cut defined roles and too many mix and match games, it was discussed to death here in the off season that having a true "closer" isn't of great importance and is overrated, but it's also hard to quantify how much the lack of a real closer effects the confidence of the other relievers and settles down the pen. Honestly Cecil is lost right now and his confidence has been undermined.
Plain and simple this was all predictable months ago and AA should have known better, and more importantly he should have done something about it instead of watching option after option pass him by. For all the flak Gibby's been getting I almost feel sorry for him (I did say almost) considering he's trying to make chicken salad out of chicken scratch most days, AA needs to be taking a lot of heat right now as well..
