  1. I hope the Yankees don't make any counter moves.
  2. Lol imagine! Reuniting the TB tandem, then let Price go in the off season. He probably could get Shields for little but he'd need almost an additional 10M from ownership this year.
  3. You think there's more moves on the way? I'm skeptical.
  4. I'm surprised AA couldn't squeeze out Cespedes too.
  5. I did bet the Jays. I have the Jays, Royals, Dodgers, Cards and Astros to win their divisions. I also have the Patriots, Packers, Seahawks, and Colts to win theirs in the NFL. Just a longshot parlay but if that happens I win 150k.
  6. Well this just spiced up the day regardless of the outcome.
  7. I think the Dodgers are ok with Latos & Wood now, just in it for fun. The Yankees are obviously trying to drive up the price (no pun intended) on the Jays. It's probably between us and the Giants. AA has the means to make a move and probably has a hard on for Price.. Unfortunately having 6 hours combined sleep over the past 3 days might lead him to an overpay.
  8. This is breaking everywhere about the Jays major push. 1 yr too late with Price imo. The move was last deadline, Detroit didn't even cough up a ton for him then..
  9. Any minute now fellas. In 5...4...3...2...1
  10. That boat sailed in the offseason when AA was trying to get too cute with Arizona, should've been a straight salary dump after Martin was signed.
  11. Some good drama building with the multi tweets. Maybe AA is like F it, time for a playoff push and big bid to save my job..
  12. If AA gets Shields or anything from SD he should also get J Upton thrown in for shits & giggles.
  13. I'm positive he could get Gallardo & Shields if he wanted them without raiding the farm or disrupting the roster too much. He has almost 10M left this year to offset their remaining salaries and like you said Buehrle's expiring next yr for Shields. The question is does AA think Shields is a good fit for the team and RC, plus does he want him long term? I like it though, those 2 could be just what the doctor ordered for this team..
  14. He might never be the same, at this point hopefully he rehabs it slowly and properly over the off season and comes back ok next yr. I always felt it was a little rushed regarding his returns.
  15. Is Saunders still slated for an August return? Not that he won't be rusty or potentially a write off this year of course. Maybe AA could swing J Upton in a package deal with SD..
  16. Yeah forget that if they're asking Stro. s*** it looks like we might be stonewalled there, especially without Hoffman now..
  17. Only Peter Bourjos, but then again he never was good was he..
  18. How incredible would that be! Do you know the exact reason it fell apart the first time around?
  19. Tell me about it. It's either Cle or SD that he's got to be talking with now due to both teams being stocked with controllable pitchers. Unless we see another ninja move that nobody sees coming..
  20. So who do you guys think the Jays will target if Price goes to the Dodgers? There's Leake, Shields, Ross, Cashner remaining on the surface. Maybe another kick at the can with Cleveland..
  21. I think Buehrle definitely retires next yr and Estrada is gone but who knows. That's a good young rotation but I could see him keeping Sanchez in the pen, picking up Dickey's option and grabbing another starter (a potential ace to replace Buehrle's salary).
  22. He's got all the tools to do something- prospects, roster players to work with, buyers market, salary this year (upwards of 10M) and money coming off the books next yr also. AA's on the bubble and the team appears to be going for it. He's never been in a better position to acquire a starter (or two). And he may never be in a better position again like this to acquire a starter at the deadline. I'd be SHOCKED if he didn't pull a ninja move before Friday.
  23. Some good points but he's got until Friday to land some pitchers. To be honest I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't reel anything in though, whatever you expect from AA usually goes the opposite way.
  24. He's done a good job especially with the budget constraints but he should've patched up the bullpen more coming into this season. Stroman was a fluke injury so he gets a pass on the rotation but he saved upwards of 10M for the deadline (which might not even be used now). That could've been spent on relief pitching and Navarro should've gone to Arizona (Stewart confirmed he wanted him), even if he was given away for nothing to create more budget flexibility. Coming into the season with the ragtag pen full of rookies cost us some important games. I don't know the exact count from the pen this year but it's more than a handful and it would've kept us in line with the Yankees. If there's one fatal flaw this year it's that, that was completely on him.
