  1. I tend to agree - not an elite team but good enough to make it. My big concern at this stage is Hutch.
  2. "Sure, it’s tempting," manager John Gibbons said. "But he’s got about 30 innings and we don’t want to use all that up in a week."
  3. They've said that Sanchez only had 30 innings left when they called him up. So I don't think starting is an option
  4. It's a good question. Utley and Hamels come to mind. We wouldn't be the only team going after Hamels. Relying on making trades post July 31st isn't the way to improve your team. Papelpon will likely hit waiver wire as well but not sure there will be takers. My god Amaro is one terrible GM
  5. NIICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe
  6. You're right about people not needing to blame Rogers - it's their money and they have a large payroll. You're wrong about them "blowing it" with the Marlins and Mets trades. It's obvious there isn't cash to spend at this stage, or at a minimum it sure isn't easily accessible. However I'm not really sure I can blame them.
  7. I agree, I thought he was the biggest moron after the 2012 offseason. Was penning Victorino's contract as the worst of the year at the time. But he's doing something right.
  8. No, it's not. When you have a complete douchebag like Lackey, it's not even close to guaranteed. He retires and they're screwed.
  9. Giving up what they did for couple months of Lackey and an uncertainty over control for next season is in no means a value trade. Not even close.
  10. I just don't get this one from the Cards point of view. Just doesn't seem like the Cardinals way. And if Lackey backs out next year, then it's a giant ball of hot mess.
  11. Red Sox are owning the day. Great return.
  12. Wow Cards getting Lackey
  13. Absolutely. It's a great trade from both clubs. Sure Oakland doesn't mind getting that salary off the books too
  14. Great trade by Cherington here. Gotta tip my hat to Boston.
  15. Well that trade is one of few where the prospects end up looking like a massive haul - certainly an outlier as no one would have predicted it going so well for Texas. Boston has every right to ask for top prospects, Lester is their asset right now and as you say it just takes one team. As to whether they drop their asking price today, we shall see
  16. Certainly coincides with my point of view - prospects are generally overvalued. They are still an asset though and whatever the value is - whether it's overvalued or not - you have to find the best way/time to use them.
  17. I thought I was hearing "Jonny Lester" at one point but most of the time it sounded like nonsense
  18. Unfortunately I don't remember seeing a recent rumour go this far involving the O's that didn't get done. Norris, Cruz, Jimenez all came to fruition.......praying this falls apart though.
  19. Oh man people are going to be losing their s*** on here if Lester goes to the O's.
  20. As much as this might make sense (though fairly unrealistic) I would hate to have to cheer for that douchebag. Guy is a class A prick
  21. The guy should be fired either way. He's been so awfully stubborn the past few years and my god, those contracts he put together are horrendous.
