  1. It really is. I know that media sports personalities always tend to stir controversy and gain some haters, but he's in a different league. To be honest the Jays talk segment I can deal with, it's his play by play that is just terrible.
  2. Is it just me or do others choose to listen to the opposing team's radio feeds? I am becoming more and more allergic to Wilner.
  3. Estrada is the worst pitcher to have ever played the game of baseball ever. Will Ferrell replacing him.
  4. Well considering you're dealing with Amaro you're probably right.
  5. They may not if you are willing to take on Paps contract.
  6. I don't find that contract all that appalling, same age as Lester with less commitment and slightly lower AAV. Of course I don't think there's a chance in hell that ownership would allow for that type of add in salary, but it doesn't scare me off.
  7. Pillar is sure doing his best to make a case so far. Great defensive play to end the inning
  8. Just makes it all the less likely he ever pitches in a big league game for us, 2.5 million is a decent sum for the Jays to give to a guy with so many question marks. Would have to look damn near amazing in the spring/minors
  9. Watch them try the EE in left field experiment again..... This is devastating news
  10. We're moving soon and may end up with Bell Fibe - just want to make sure all the games are carried. I recall when Sportsnet 360 or Sportsnet One was launched some games were only on Rogers and it caused a stink
  11. I agree that Rogers doesn't "need" to spend more or take heat over their payroll - it's a healthy sum as it stands. My issue is with management constantly talking about how the financial resources are available even when all signs point to that not being the case. Even Beeston saying that payroll would go up this year over last isn't true at this stage.
  12. FWIW I ran into my account representative with the Jays (sales rep for my seasons and ticket packs) 2 days ago. Asked him about the Martin signing and if it had caused a spur in ticket sales. He basically said no - people are waiting for Melky to be resigned. Many ticket pack holders have said once he resigns, they resubscribe. His reaction was that he was surprised by how many people were hung up on Melky and that even if the Jays don't resign him in particular that they expect to be involved in other FAs that "are just as good". He said that he fully expects us to be active in FA signings and said don't be surprised to see "2 or 3 more signings" - of course that doesn't mean 2 or 3 top FAs, but his point was that there's money to be spent to bring in players to help them win. Most importantly he echoed comments about the commitment from Rogers. He spoke of the fact that the new CEO was transitioning last year and wasn't fully comfortable committing dollars to a product he didn't really understand. This year he has shown clear support from a financial standpoint and the money is there to spend. This doesn't mean there's an "unlimited" payroll available obviously, but money isn't a constraint like it was last offseason. This is not the first time I've heard something similar from someone within the organization in the last month (and these same people admitted money was an issue last year during the season). And before people say it's just a way for him to make sure I resubscribe, that's a non-issue. My tickets are locked in already so it's not just a sales job. Again, anything Jays related you have to take with a grain of salt, but there's a clear change in "vibe" surrounding the Jays offices this offseason and a belief that front office has a boatload more flexibility.
  13. Machado out with what looked like a brutal injury to his right knee. Came out of the box and just collapsed.
  14. I wasn't around this neck of the woods back then, but did anyone actually disagree with that? I can easily see arguing against Drew based on the asking price but arguing against needing an infielder is a stretch. Think that was the most glaringly obvious hole considering we had penciled in Goins as a starter
  15. Key to that statement is that they are better though. And Prado's got salary attached to him sure, but he's a versatile player which fits in perfectly with this roster. Plus our FO has plenty of financial resources remember? Sigh............
  16. This just makes front office look worse and worse. Headley and Prado both go to our division rival for very little - two players we clearly could have benefited from. And this just makes it more painful of a non-move. Just brutal.
  17. I think it would be easier to win this game if we didn't give up a lot of homeruns.
  18. Switched back to the channel late - any word on what happened to Brett?
  19. This is the first time in my life I've ever been wrong.
  20. Time to attack their bullpen. And by attack, I mean attack them with Valencia's good looks. Obviously.
  21. Managerial instincts, we're gonna beat up on McHugh so badly in the first two innings that they're forced to bring in a lefty out of the pen.
