The mass exodus of manufacturing jobs from Ohio had the biggest impact on the Indians attendance. People in Cleveland and surrounding areas just don't have the disposable income to dump on baseball games anymore.

Any GM that would use up a pick just to sign someone for vetrin presenze on a rebuilding team should be fired. Plenty of vets out there to fill that imaginary void that you believe in that would come way cheaper with no pick attached to them.

It literally makes no sense for the Phillies to part with a draft pick for a short term deal with Bats, I would guess there is no validity to this rumor at all.

I wouldn't extend Sanchez, he's been great but someone who relies exclusively on his fastball to pitch is at a greater risk to turn to s*** than someone who knows how to pitch (ie Estrada)

What if Bats signs for 1 year 12m somewhere else in march? Will the Shatkins haters be out in full force again like they were with EE? Will people take a runny s*** on his agent? Will bats be labeled as greedy and egotistical? Hmmmm.

Pearce is slightly more mobile than Bats, but not by a significant amount. I think JB could pick up 1B fairly quickly, plus he wasn't terrible at fielding ground balls at 3rd when he used to play there. His smaller stature does provide less of a margin for error for the infield throws that might potentially sail over his head. Overall I think he has the potential to grade out as an average first basemen though.

I've heard this narrative used a lot around here, but if you look how he performed from June 1st on he put a 151 wRC+ with k rates and bb rates in line with his past 4 years. It might of just been nothing more than a bad start, but why use recency bias right?

Shapiro deserves absolutely zero scorn. EE made a choice, actually his agent probably made the choice for him, and he more than likely deserves said scorn if scorning is needed to fulfill ones day. Plan B for EE might actually turn out better, Chris is right, wait and see folks!

It will be hard to see the Jays rotation put up a season like last year, I expect a step back, especially with regards to Happ and Estrada. This team with its current make-up making the playoffs, seems alot less likely, although Shatkins might surprise us before the off season is over.

Wow, Paul Kinsler is most unprofessional agent out there. All he did was talk s*** to the media and ends up getting his client a slightly less deal for a team that probably was his 3rd or 4th choice.
