  1. I had a quote in March (forgot what thread it was otherwise I would have reposted it) where I said people will turn on Gibbons when he makes Navarro full time DH and abuses relievers. He's done exactly that so far. On top of that, he's used his worst relievers too many in spots that required his best ones. He's been awful and even his supporters have said as much. He's not good. Never was. People think Farrell was so bad that anyone could do better, but even Farrell isn't this bad.
  2. Why are people expecting Hutch to turn it around? Heavy workload last season coming off surgery and unproven in general. His 5.17 FIP, severe drop in K's and increase in walks and HR's does not indicate that he's unlucky. I'd wait a bit more before I trust him.
  3. No idea. Just throwing it out there because the team absolutely needs to move Reyes if they want to retool or rebuild. Maybe the Padres would take him, too.
  4. Bautista and Reyes to the Yankees. They might be the one team willing to take Reyes given how bad Didi has been.
  5. See, when I said Gibbons was a problem, and this team would never do anything with his as manager, it wasn't done out of "hate" or trolling. I meant every word. You're seeing it on the field now. The hick has no clue what he is doing and wouldn't manage another baseball team if every GM in baseball was drunk out of their minds during the hiring process. Rogers has only heavily invested in this team twice since they took over, and both times Gibbons was manager. Stop undercutting your own team by letting your GM's hire this clown, Rogers.
  6. Can't believe that with a win today the Jays could be .500. They seem to be playing a lot worse. Offense has been carrying them.
  7. This pitching match-up is so one-sided in favor of the Indians, I think the Jays take this one. Because baseball....
  8. Exactly my point. AA drafted/acquired most of those guys. Him and his scouting team obviously are/were a strength for this organization. Why mess that up? The Mets should have been our template. They are in a much more short-term driven environment (New York) and they took their sweet ass time to build what they have now, rather than throw a billion dollars in trades/free agency after winning 70-something games to try to win the fans back immediately. The Jays didn't have to lose 100 games in 2013. Take Ervin Santana's salary in a dump (which the Royals ended up doing). Sign Bartolo Colon (which the A's ended up doing). That's two starters that were realistically available (one in a dump and the other coming off a suspension who likely would have taken the most money wherever it came from). In that scenario, they upgrade the rotation and don't lose a single asset. It's easy to look back now and say this stuff, but that's what teams do. They take stop gap vets and then replace them if/when an internal option becomes available. The Jays should have gone that route. Clearly, Bautista has not demanded a trade yet even after the last two season's of garbage, so he probably wouldn't have in the other scenario too if they were hovering around 75-85 wins with all their prospects in tact.
  9. Marisnick, Syndergaard, d'Arnaud, Gomes, Alvarez (hurt but whatever), Escobar, Desclafani, Nicolino, etc, etc, etc, etc. f***, AA destroyed this team in a span on one month during that off-season.
  10. If Estrada replaces Norris in the rotation, then who replaces Sanchez when he's bumped? That weighted ball program better be able to create miracles. I'll take one of Santana or Doubront.
  11. Hopefully it's for Castro who really should be in the minors.
  12. If Bautista can't play the OF, then put him on the DL so his injury has a chance to heal. This organization is so clueless.
  13. Yep. Should have been patient like the Mets and let the winning come organically without sacrificing prospects. The fact that he traded so many prospects for players that were on free agent contracts is absurd. At least he has learned his lesson but it's too little too late.
  14. It would be more of an apology than it would be a message. "Sorry for spending so much money on talent and then hiring that moron to manage, please forgive me". - Sincerely, Alex.
  15. Bautista should be on the DL until he can play the OF, and Smoak should be playing 1B. Reyes should not have been playing as much as he did with obvious rib issues that were not going to get better by playing more. This team is run by morons.
  16. I'd give up all three for Hamels (Sanchez, Osuna, Castro). It's clear Sanchez is a reliever, and the Jays have already started destroying Castro's confidence/arm/role right before your eyes. It would essentially be Osuna for Hamels in that scenario. I'd be down.
  17. Don't worry guys. My pre-season prediction of Gibbons being fired in late-May/early-June, being replaced by Hale, who then leads the Jays on an improbable 2nd half run to the playoffs still stands. The firing just has to happen relatively soon.
  18. Swap Sanchez and Estrada's roles, and that's probably the only thing left that he could do to improve the team. Outside of that, he needs to start using the best arms at the most important times and stop trying to pigeon hole Castro into anything other than low leverage situations (or just send him down).
  19. Come on guys. Keep this on topic. Gibbons deserves as much hatred and scorn as possible.
  20. Well said. I'm sure Reyes and Bautista want to play, but keeping them healthy is far more important than getting their bats in the lineup at 50% health. Not being able to throw is a big deal. Not being able to hit from the left side as a switch hitter is a big deal. This is what happens when the GM and manager are fighting for their jobs. It's gotten to the point where I almost wish the Jays traded Hoffman for Duquette. Ok, that's not true, but these clowns need to be replaced.
  21. Wow, who would have thought a switch hitter who stopped hitting from the left side because he was in too much pain would need DL time? F this org.
  22. I hate to agree with you, and I really don't want to hate a guy that got Josh freakin' Donaldson for Brett Lawrie, but I agree, he's not a good GM.
