  1. Royals are re-signing Alcides Escobar. How long will it take Nervous Ned to insert Escobar and Goins as his 1-2 hitters?
  2. Zach Britton Suffers Ruptured Achilles https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/zach-britton-suffers-ruptured-achilles.html

  4. Cross Chatwood off the list: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/cubs-sign-tyler-chatwood.html Cubs Sign Tyler Chatwood 12:29pm: The exact number on the deal is a $38MM guarantee, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports (Twitter link). 12:20pm: The Cubs announced on Thursday that they’ve agreed to a three-year contract with free agent right-hander Tyler Chatwood. The 27-year-old Chatwood, a client of Excel Sports Management, will receive “around $40MM” on the contract, according to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi (Twitter link). Chatwood, who’ll turn 28 in a couple of weeks, was one of the youngest free agents on the market. It’s a significant payday for a player that has yet to experience sustained success at the big league level, but the right-hander was a popular free agent target due to a number of appealing secondary metrics including his velocity, ground-ball rate and spin rate. Chatwood posted a 4.69 ERA with 7.3 K/9 against 4.7 BB/9 in 147 2/3 innings with the Rockies this past season, though in addition to his age and promising peripherals, he’s long performed considerably better away from the hitters’ haven of Coors Field. More to come.
  5. Now no team will hire Zaun for a FO job he thought he might get!
  6. Maybe working under Friedman or Zaidi changed his process. I was not a fan of his Toronto tenure. I don't think there was a process in his 6 years in Toronto. Looked like someone playing bingo, not GM of a MLB team.
  7. Unfortunately the modern world prioritizes likes, followers and any other thing that supports phantom popularity ahead of class or anything resembling a decent person. As a former die-hard Boston Bruins fan, it isn't surprising to hear this coming out of Boston media.
  8. I echo other comments on here. It's tough to lose someone you're close to unexpectedly, especially at a young age of 40. A lot of us have probably been through an unexpected death at some point. I don't really care about sports as much as I used to but even being somewhat of a fan - this is still a tough one. I wish I'd seen him pitch live just once.

  12. One of the reasons the NHL doesn't interest me anymore is the gimmick points they give away with 3-on-3 and shootout games. If these changes happen I will not spend any more money on MLB. Maybe Manfred will remove the CF and SS after 9 innings too. I wonder whose knob Rob had to gob to get where he is today.
  13. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to how people view these photos. The Taveras picture never bothered me (not that I was seeking it out) but I refused to see a family member of mine who had been killed in a car accident afterwards. I guess for me, unless I have an emotional attachment, it doesn't bother me. It does seem that the Dominican culture sure is different from what we're used to in North America.
  14. This isn't anything to stress over. Be happy that this is the second consecutive off-season where you have baseball people running this team instead of a sockless geriatric and his overweight pet.
  15. Correct. I lurk daily (rarely logged in) and it's annoying reading this shitposting hijacking every thread. He's easily the most narcissistic poster here while knowing s*** all about baseball. Things he asks people to be banned for he's guilty of himself.
  16. There is definitely something in the water in the prairies.
  17. Happy One Month until Happy Holidays? Doesn't feel right.
  18. Gurriel just got 7 years. Different circumstances as it's only $23M and he's only 23, but still.
  19. Why do people insist on being ignorant?
  20. Cue Olerud363 rebuttal in 3...2...1.
  21. Why is that every team has a group of fans who think the GM/President of Baseball Ops owns the team? The "cheap" comments smell of people who have not the slightest clue of how a big business is structured.
  22. Trumbo is an average player even at his absolute best.
  23. I still think it's sarcasm. Hard to follow sometimes.
  24. And the Cubs will go Hendricks-Lester-Chapman. Though not as fresh, obviously.
