  1. Tampa, KC and Minnesota fans are rejoicing as the Yankees continue to implode.. 6-15 since peaking June 12th at 38-23.. suddenly, it looks like Boston will run away with the East while the Yankees likely miss the playoffs as the Rays/Twins/Royals/whoever else overtake them in the wild card.. especially when you consider the deadliness of the Yanks upcoming sked of the Brewers and Red Sox... However, KC and the Rays have difficult series ahead with the Dodgers and Red Sox, respectively..
  2. Uh... WTF was that??? Kluber pitches a gem and loses because the Padres' Trevor Cahill and the bullpen shut out the Indians... at a time Cleveland needs a lot of wins.
  3. Indians offense is MIA vs. the crappy Padres so far... it's like watching the Jays right now--both teams have disappointed on the field this year, as the Indians are having trouble holding off the surging Royals (who are leading Seattle right now) and Twins (who beat the Angels).. and not much help in the wild card either, as Tampa won again.. And it's still shocking the Cubs are under .500 at midpoint...
  4. Hoping for the best for Dustin Fowler.. this almost felt as bad as the Adam Greenberg injury.. not even getting a chance for an at-bat. Hopefully Fowler makes it back in 2018 and becomes a major part of the Yankees' emerging core, along with Frazier and Torres, and of course Sanchez and Judge. As for the Yankees, the injuries(both major and minor league) are coming at a bad time, especially with 2 first place teams(Houston, Milwaukee) and the Blue Jays coming up on the schedule, and their wild card lead being chipped away by LA, Tampa, Texas, Baltimore, Kansas City, Seattle.. and let's not rule out the Jays if they remember how to hit! These injuries increase the chance the Yankees will stand pat at the deadline and stick with their rebuild plans, as there's no point blowing prospects for rentals especially when the team itself is at least a year away from being a bonafide powerhouse.. and their prospect stock has been drained by injuries to Torres and Fowler.
  5. Unfortunately, neither team is scoring.. unlike the dumpster fire game at the Trop earlier. 0-0 bottom 8th.. a Yankees loss and the Sox are in 1st and Rays are only 1.5 back of the sliding Yankees.. perhaps New York is falling back to Earth as injuries to Warren and Sabathia, plus fatigue are hitting the rotation and bullpen hard..
  6. Congrats, Orioles fans! Your team just tied the MLB record for shi**est pitching staff in history--20 straight games of 5+ runs given up--a record that held for 93 years! Where are you going to go next? Orioles Hangout is in meltdown right now...
  7. I blame Brook Jacoby (on the Jays) and the Orioles for making the White Sox play better.. they were struggling until the O's came to play Chicago recently.. it sparked the White Sox. And surprisingly, with the Twins freefalling, the race is far from over.. we'll be 2.5 or 3.5 back by the end of today (depending on the result of the Indians/Twins DH..)
  8. It's like the O's energized this White Sox team.. looking like it's going to be 5 wins of their last 6 between their series against Baltimore and Toronto.. and meanwhile the Twins are crashing back to Earth, about to hand Cleveland the AL Central lead, as the Indians should be..... looks like the race is going to get yet even tighter in the wild card.
  9. Not sure if it's a curse or the White Sox being energized by pummeling the O's... Beliveau and posibbly Leone's likely heading to Buffalo tomorrow for a fresh arm(s).. and let's hope Biagini isn't hurt. If there's any good news, the O's and Rays are losing.. only game I'm worried about is Cleveland/Minnesota. Looks like the AL Wild card will tighten even more...
  10. Tough breaks for the Yankees--Sabathia was just recently DLed with hamstring issues (out 4 weeks), and now Aaron Hicks, a breakout player for the Yanks this season, will be joining him after suffering an Achilles tendon injury.. Mason Williams is on his way to join the Yankees in Oakland.. it's a tough loss if Hicks ends up missing time, as he's one of New York's best players not named Aaron Judge..
  11. The MASH unit is piling up in New York(Mets)--Lagares broke his thumb tonight.
  12. Still got Rays/Tigers going on.. a Rays loss and the Jays are only a game back, which would be shocking considering how far back the Jays were in the wild card back in April..
  13. And the Phillies surprisingly beat Sale.. Sox fans should be angry... this is a game they should've won.. especially considering they're going to get trounced by Houston this weekend, a team that is far superior to the Red Sox.
  14. Sale's headed for a CG loss as the Phillies have taken the lead in the 8th..
  15. Plouffe DFAd, Matt Chapman called up to take over 3B and keep Healy at DH, pitching coach Curt Young fired--changes are going on in Oakland...
  16. Zeke to DL, Dwight Smith Jr. called up:
  17. 9-22 since their 22-10 start. This team is heading for a major fire sale at the deadline as ownership will likely order a teardown of the roster as their future is very bleak.. no farm system with MLB-ready talent(all their affiliates are under .500, and most of their top pieces are in A+ ball, and no pitching depth of any kind) only 1 quality starter (Bundy), and multiple pieces approaching free agency (Miley, Tillman, Britton, Machado..)
  18. Definitely, the Sox will be there--but it's not a good thing when the Sox bullpen is throwing so many innings in a short period of time, when Pomeranz is ineffective, they've got a AAA starter in Brian Johnson in the 5th spot, E-Rod and Wright are on the DL, and Price and Porcello have struggled.. the offense needs to show up, especially against bad teams. Back-to-back extra inning games take a toll on the 'pen..
  19. When the team's 9-22 since their 22-10 start? Angelos is likely getting angry.. and probably is ready to fire one of Duquette or Showalter (or both) and order a major teardown of the roster, as the franchise faces a bleak future as there's no chance Machado will be an Oriole past 2018 (he's likely bound for the Yankees or another club in need of a 3B), and their farm is barren of any MLB-ready talent.
  20. Red Sox into the 12th.. WTF is wrong with the Red Sox??? This is as frustrating as the Jays... getting their bullpen taxed trying to beat a last place team..
  21. O's lose yet again. Hot seat's got to be getting warm on both Duquette and Showalter--not out of the question one or both could be fired soon as part of a major teardown in Baltimore..
  22. Hat trick for Eddie Rosario hitting a HR off the backup catcher for the Mariners (Carlos Ruiz)... Twins fell one hit short of tying the Texas Rangers for 3rd most hits in one game in regulation (29 vs. the O's in 2007 in that 30-3 rout).
  23. Sox going into the 11th still tied at 3--beat the damn Phillies already! You're a contending team... play like one! Or do they want Tampa to overtake them?
  24. Casey Lawrence freaking sucks.. 3.2IP, 11H, 6R, 5ER, 0BB, 0K, 2 HR.. in relief of an awful Bergman.
  25. As they should vs. dreck like the Phillies. But draining the pen will affect them the rest of the week...
