  1. Most of his projections don't expect to any more than average to slightly above average defensively. His most elite tool is hitting.. he could easily hit .300+ per season, but with limited power of 10-15 HR. Travis also has a better arm.
  2. On to Cleveland we go.. and that ship that is the Indians looks already sunk, downed by bad defense, bad bullpen, and lackluster offense. Maybe the Jays will do better against them. BTW, Cleveland is struggling since Yan Gomes went down.. although Roberto Perez has done a reasonable job filling in. However, the rest of the lineup is really struggling.. no decent leadoff guy as Bourn has badly regressed, and only Brantley hitting for average. And that bullpen.. it's god awful! We get Boston again next weekend.. hoepfully things will be better next time.
  3. Exactly. Don't want to risk getting doubled up or worse, a triple play.
  4. Game in NY is still going.. 2-2 in the 13th, with the Yanks down to Esmil Rogers in the pen (doesn't this sound familiar from a few weeks ago?). Good thing for the off-day tomorrow.
  5. Changes already starting to happen in Boston. Layne up, JBJ optioned. In addition, Varvaro was DFAd, Dalier Hinojosa recalled. Dalier had less than impressive numbers in Pawtucket with a 3.68 ERA, 9/4 K/BB ratio, and control issues. And he's not a prospect.. he's a 29 year Cuban signee who hasn't impressed much. But Boston desperately needs arms right now with such a torched pen..
  6. As for the Papelbon rumors, Boston media is doing the same thing, as their bullpen is as bad or worse than the Jays.
  7. And only the Dodgers are competitive, yet are once again facing having to trade for pitching due to long-term injuries to Ryu and McCarthy.
  8. Has anyone watched the Houston Astros this season? Best team in the AL West, #1 in HRs, #2 in ERA, #1 in SBs (but still striking out too much.) For some reason, I'm feeling that the Astros could be this year's Royals/Rays/Rockies/etc. breakout team that goes into the postseason surprisingly. And considering how bad the AL West is, I wouldn't be surprised. They just did a number on the Padres this week so far.
  9. Yes. And Boston is praying Porcello doesn't give up a bunch of HRs (he has had serious issues with the long ball this year. And his last two outings have been terrible.)
  10. Wow, great pitching staff for the Red Sox.. to hit a ton off of! Worst pitching staff in the majors (30th overall). That Red Sox team is heading for a big crash in the standings soon.. possibly after the Yankees clobber them this weekend with their top pitching staff and servicable offense. At this rate, expect Farrell, Nieves and others to be fired by the end of May or June, regardless how much the Red Sox hit. You can't win with such an awful staff. And yes, I know the Jays pitching staff is bad too, but it can improve.. Boston is MUCH worse.
  11. Thank god it's over! Jays win! That was a difficult game to watch...
  12. BTW, if you think this game is crazy.. check out the Nats/Braves game! (it's 12-10 Braves as we speak).
  13. C'mon, one more out please? This game is pushing 4 hours...
  14. Luis Perez just got promoted to AAA recently. He could be an option soon.
  15. And the Aussie gets us out of it. Only 3 outs to go.. this has been one of the worst games for pitchers in some time, on both teams. Especially bad for Boston considering Farrell's bullpen management.
  16. Not completely his fault.. it's that ballpark that's the issue.
  17. At least ours has potential.. most of the staff in Boston was never good, and some where already in decline (Buchholz, Masterson, Miley), or had a fluke year (Porcello). And Kelly makes me think of AJ Burnett.. great arm, but needs improvement with command.
  18. At least ours has potential.. most of the staff in Boston was never good, and some where already in decline (Buchholz, Masterson, Miley), or had a fluke year (Porcello). And Kelly makes me think of AJ Burnett.. great arm, but needs improvement with command.
  19. Breslow now in.. and how is Farrell going to manage tomorrow's game? The bullpen's toast and they're not able to send JBJ down because the bench is short due to Napoli's illness. And Porcello has been awful recently, with serious issues with the HR, which could be a problem against our hitters.
  20. Uhh.. Buck, Varvaro's at 32 pitches.. of course he's out. TBH, Boston's bullpen is going to be toast by Memorial Day. And Farrell's down to Tazawa, Uehara and Breslow in the pen with Ross in the game (assuming Ogando is not available after throwing 2 IP last night).
  21. Is this game ever going to end? 2.5 hours and we're only into the 6th.
  22. Wow, Mujica is awful. 2 balks in the inning.. and this game might get finished by 10pm at this rate.
