  1. What about Tony Sipp for a lefty in the pen?
  2. Nice idea. Zero chance it happens. It's not West centric, it's entirely West and Central and vice versa in the Grapefruit league. I'm not even sure if they're allowed to move their Spring Training facilities to Arizona. Every team in the West plays in Arizona (except Houston who moved from Central) and every team in the East plays in Florida. Each league gets the Central teams mixed in. Plus they already have a farm team in Dunedin.
  3. There's no way we're moving to Phoenix. It would be within Florida (and I'm from Vancouver, and the trip to Phoenix would definitely be easier since I go annually). Only team in the Grapefruit league not from the Central or the East is the Astros, who obviously moved from the Central. Same with the Cactus league. Hopefully they move them down the east coast.
  4. I don't disagree. Maybe I thought Heyward was a little more plus defensively than he actually is in center.
  5. I can't say I watch Heyward a huge amount. Basically Heyward's got a stronger arm and I like how Pillar's arm plays in LF more. By all means love Pillar, but arm strength wise I'd consider him average in CF with plus accuracy.
  6. Asinine. Sure a little more balance would be nice, but come on much bigger fish to fry. Although, this looks pretty nice if we had the Dodgers payroll and could do everything else we need to do this offseason. 1. Heyward, CF 2. Donaldson, 3B 3. Bautista, RF 4. Chris Davis, 1B 5. Encarnacion, DH 6. Troy Tulowitzki, SS 7. Russell Martin, C 8. Pillar, LF 9. Travis/Goins, 2B Murders row x infinity.
  7. Our focus 100% should be pitching. Our lineup is basically set, maybe add a bench piece or two and get a new backup catcher. Only way our lineup isn't set is if we deal from it. Revere for whatever reason doesn't have a lot of value. No interest in trading Pillar and Pompey is a tough guy to move on from. I'd probably see what kind of a return we could get centered around a package of Sanchez, Pompey +. If a top of the rotation piece can be had for that you pull the trigger. Then you move Osuna to the rotation (like the plan of working him back to the bullpen as he reaches his innings limit). I'd try to keep Estrada, or one of Chen, Iwakuma, Zimmerman or Shark if we can't keep Price. Definitely retain Dickey. Then you have a rotation of: 1. Stroman 2. Trade 3. Chen 4. Dickey 5. Osuna/Hutchinson Then stockpile the bullpen. Maybe make Henriks the swing man and see what he can do in the rotation. This offseason, I'd love to see them try to create a shutdown pen. Imagine putting a package together for Aroldis, and having Osuna, Sanchez, Cecil and Lowe as the bridge guys. That would be dominant. Dream scenario would be to resign Price, and then to put a package together for Chapman or Kimbrel. 1. Price 2. Stroman 3. Chen 4. Dickey 5. Hutch. Lowe/Cecil/Osuna/Chapman. But not very realistic.
  8. Farm system was gutted 2 and a half seasons ago....seemed to have enough pieces to acquire Tulo and Price and still have some left over...
  9. Man people love to s*** on AA...like he's traded like so many great prospects over the last 3 years. Fortunately what everyone is overlooking is that he also can build a damn farm system within a couple years... we have JBau and Edwin under contract for another year. We have blue chippers at C, 2B, SS, 3B for multiple years. SO next year we have a C, DH, 2B, SS, 3B, RF all locked up at arguably top 5 at their position. You don't have blue chippers at 1st, CF or LF, but Pillar is damn solid and a long term starter, and Pompey, Davis and Alford coming up. Your OF is likely set...even after JBau is gone. AA blew it up in the Marlins deal....and yet we still have this many pieces to throw around. All we need to do next year and longterm is get arms...Stroman has all the components of an ace, Dickey will likely return for a backend rotation innings eater role. You still have Hutch to slot in 3-5. Really we just need one more solid arm for next season. I have no sadness over losing guys like Boyd and Labourt. I also am not as high on Norris at the end of the day. But we haven't made the playoffs for 22 goddamn years...at some point we gotta take what it takes.
  10. I'm blinded by his off-field antics and personality, I think he's a real beauty. I'd be ecstatic, but not based on what he has left in the tank, just a huge fan of his. Also Leafs suck.
  11. I hope we trade him. Not really about this, more the fact that I'm tired of relying on a knuckleballer who gets lit up the 3rd time through the order every outing if he gets there. The attitude hopefully gets him shipped out and we can upgrade his spot in the rotation.
  12. Agreed, that's a good point. Not saying it's the biggest need this offseason, but for us to take that next step that's the piece that's most integral imo.
  13. As I said tho "world series run caliber". Ya we might be able to get to the playoffs with this rotation, but a lot would have to go right to get this rotation through the first round of the postseason. And to some others who say our rotation is underrated, the league is so pitching centric I'd rather put eggs in the rotation than for corner OF's or 2B's just from positional value. I don't trust Dickey worth a s*** either to be honest. I think we need Sanchez in the rotation, we need as many pieces in there that have the potential to carry a team. If Sanchez emerges and the kids continue to develop then sure we have a decent shot, but it's too many if's for me, just like it was last offseason. But lets see how this offseason plays out.
  14. Why the f*** does anyone think your rotation's fine? Fine I guess means fine....but fine doesn't mean world series run caliber. It's a pitching driven league, this team's biggest need is without a doubt an ace and it's not even close. Without that our ceiling is limited.
  15. I'm curious as to why people are so quick to send off Navarro, I think he still fits. $5m isn't a huge sum for what he offers, about $6m for 1 win and he'll easily provide that in a DH role. So I'd keep him, but could be swayed. I'd move Dickey and Thole to free up some salary, I'm tired of relying on a knuckleballer and his sidekick. I'd deal Happ too, for either relief help of a LF. Really still think this team's #1 need is SP, tho Martin will provide a lot of value for our starters. Guys I'd look at in the OF would probably be Rios, Markakis or Aoki, or as people have mentioned the Saunders deal. I don't like the Pillar half of our platoon so I'd rather get a righty. 2B/3B I'm probably not putting a ton more value into, unless we can't land a LF then we should target a 3B. Lester would be a dream come true but it would be a real shocker. Also down with the Miller talk, I think he's going to be a stud for at least 3 seasons and is talented enough to shell out for. Generally wouldn't say that, but big fan of his.
  16. Hahaha I'm very much Canadian, but definitely no relation there. Based on the last board I just assumed it was a troll...
  17. According to Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Blue Jays nearly dealt Sergio Santos to the Rangers around two weeks ago. The trade, which involved three teams, fell apart after one of the other players involved in the deal failed a physical. It's unclear whether talks will be revived at some point. via John Morosi's twitter
  18. I honestly don't know who that is haha. It's my last name, I've got Polish blood.
  19. What the hell is shoved up everyone's ass regarding Price...? I wouldn't deal Edwin for him but I don't see why he isn't considered elite by anyone on this board. Tried to dig through as many pages of this thread as I could, but what gives?
  20. Regardless of whether he's gonna bite us, you can't bring that guy back no matter what. It's nonsensical, plenty of guys need a change of scenery and it simply wasn't gonna work here.
  21. There is far too much destain here over a very mediocre option anyway...

  23. It's Nolasco...
  24. Nolasco to the Twins...
