  1. Hang in there....Drabek is going to be elite one day. It might take a 3rd TJ but it will come. He is working out with Ricky Romero now.
  2. Haha! Even better from the Family Guy In all seriousness Im not convinced this guy is all he is being hyped to be. How many times have we seen it? Remember Lawrie's first 150 Abs in 2011?
  3. I don't even think about who I fear we may face. Baseball is a crazy game and as I see these postings get written about fearing the Rangers or the Royals or HOU..... At the same their fans are looking at Price, Stro and our offense and fearing us. We are dangerous and if healthy and things break right, we can beat anyone and win it all.
  4. Is Greg Bird for Real? http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-top-five-yankees-prospects-by-projected-war/ "Bird is a 22-year-old hitter with fewer than 30 games’ worth of experience above High-A who’s also projected to produce something slightly better than a league-average batting line. There are few other prospects about which it’s possible to make such a comment. Steamer tends to produce very conservative BABIP forecasts for players with little experience in the high minors. Indeed, even Bird’s .286 BABIP projection is a about a standard deviation below major-league average. Bird still appears to offer enough in the way of discipline and power, however, to compensate for the penalties inherent within projections for players of his limited experience."
  5. A loss...but this team has no shortage of closers.
  6. Love the story and will be sad with the inevitable fall from grace. I think he has a few more good things in store for us this year though.
  7. Can you imagine. That series, should it ever happen, should match the intensity of the Yankees. Everyone wants to beat the Royals. Cocky beaning f***os.
  8. Yes, first lets get Tulo back and then we will address all that other "stuff"
  9. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jabo-kevin-kiermaier-might-be-having-the-best-defensive-season-we-know-of/ I am a technological chimp. I have no idea how some guys are able to post what they do lol But here it is.
  10. Agree with these posts. The deeply bruised muscles can heal pretty quickly. I'm sure they feel better every day with treatment. That's one thing. The issue he/we face is....whats the impact of the small crack in the scapula to hitting and the rigours of fielding. They want to try to find out in 9 more days.
  11. Gibbys interview on Baseball Central today he mentioned that he is hoping Tulo would be back for the final series against Tampa... He may not make it back, but this attempt at getting back is more than a stunt to prevent hysteria in the fan base. Its legit IMO.
  12. lol. yupper Listening to the Yankees talk about Stro was just fun. Headley said it was like he had 6 pitches.
  13. God May Be Having the Best Defensive Season we Know Of http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jabo-kevin-kiermaier-might-be-having-the-best-defensive-season-we-know-of/ Great read on the D of a guy we are seeing this weekend.
  14. Mods hot tub time machine....set back to 1992 and 1993 until the 2015 playoffs.
  15. We went from Lawrie-Reyes-Navvy 2014 to JD-Martin-Tulo 2015. Think about that for a second. Talk about an upgrade. I know a lot of people don't care about this but last night we had a Canadian player hit a very important HR to help cement a game in our House. I don't think in the history of the franchise a Canadian player has ever had anywhere near as big a hit...and he isn't done yet for 2015. I thought it was worth mentioning.
  16. Stand by most post on the 8th. Few could have predicted he would be this good coming back on a legit basis. Im glad he floats. Blown away by Stro. Was using his slider more last night and less of the 2 seamer. Like Tanaka, Every start he seems to have something else working. Love to see him blow the odd 4 seamer by some guys. His down and in breaking ball to LHH just isn't fair when he commands it.
  17. Pillar twice has taken time with my boy when Hudson was 5 and 6 to talk to him and sign balls...pose for pics with him etc. Very soft spoken guy. Wish he could hit more but don't think he ever will. Pitch selection issue. I agree pencilling him in for a 3 fWAR is unwise. I also think Colby has seen his best days.
  18. For a reasonable cost. Pillar will be 3.5 WAR this year for 500k.
  19. His number on D have come up from 2014 but he is still below avg. I wont pretend I understand them as well as you but when Ive watched HOU this year (and thats often...even went to 3 games at MM) he just doesn't look like the player we had in CF in 2013 anymore to me. Not saying he is horrible but the guy was over 5.
  20. After 2014 we were done with him. He was benched late season for a reason. We cant know for sure but id bet my house (and its a nice one) that no attempt was even made to resign.
  21. I think your Smoak and Cola ceiling assessment is correct.
  22. Um...ya. Pretty sure I know what his WAR was in 2013 for us....and what he is/was. And why we didn't resign him. We were talking about his bat. And I watched him a couple nights ago in MM inn LF flailing away on chasing down a couple balls. His D has slid.
  23. That's a fair perspective and good for those screaming for Cola (which doesn't include me) to be in the line up. I still think we should have kept Danny V over Cola.
  24. nailed it. Colby is an enigma. The only difference between them is Smoaks pop comes from his strength and size....Colby comes from what can look like one of the sweetest most effortless swings in MLB 20 ish times a season.
  25. Cola K rate is same as Smoaks ...26% and his BB rate is less at 6. He has been BABIP lucky at .330. Smoak .254 Cola is no panacea and I think he is worse on D than Smoak.
