  1. Yankees To Sign DJ LeMahieu 11:43am: LeMahieu is heading to the Yankees, tweets Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. His contract is believed to be a two-year deal with a guarantee in the range of $24MM. 11:40am: The Yankees are closing in on a two-year contract with free-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu, reports Jack Curry of the YES Network (Twitter links). New York’s plan for LeMahieu is to use him as a multi-positional asset, where he’ll see time at second base, third base and even at first base, per Curry. With LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki now in the fold, Manny Machado looks to be less of a fit in the Bronx than ever, although the addition of those two players certainly doesn’t preclude a signing. There’s been talk earlier this winter of the possibility that the Yanks could yet move an infielder, and Tulowitzki’s league-minimum salary doesn’t represent much of an impediment if the Yankees decide to alter their course. That said, there’s no denying that today’s agreement with LeMahieu does seem to make that long-speculated match with Machado considerably less plausible. The Yankees’ infield now likely consists of Miguel Andujar at third base, Tulowitzki at short, Gleyber Torres at second base and Luke Voit at first, with LeMahieu filling in as a versatile super-sub and Greg Bird also on hand as an option at first base. Didi Gregorius, of course, will join that mix later this season when he is sufficiently recovered from Tommy John surgery. It’s a crowded mix but a deep and highly talented one that should provide the Yankees plenty of insurance against injury while also allowing them to field a strong lineup even on days when their top bats are resting.
  2. and he will be lucky to get there
  3. He will be lucky to play 50 games
  4. This from Ricky Romero rickyro24 Dear baseball, thank you for the memories. Memories that I will cherish forever. To my teammates and coaches - many of which I’ll call friends for life - it was an honor. Toronto, and actually the whole country of Canada - I love you. Canada, thank you for showing so much love to this young kid from East Los Angeles. I did it, I lived it, and and now it’s time to officially announce that I’M DONE. I tip my hat to the fans and to this beautiful game I was blessed to play. To my family, thank you so much for the support throughout my career... I love you guys!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! http://bluejayhunter.com/2019/01/ricky-romero-announces-his-retirement.html?fbclid=IwAR1f3N3phdWu64hv4RaNSmolTgFRYYWLcYZig6XDIzWu69i_IemPf2ajTow
  5. I like he's controllable through to 2020 as well
  6. The Blue Jays are in agreement on a one-year, Major League contract with free-agent righty Matt Shoemaker, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (via Twitter). Toronto has an open spot on the 40-man roster, so a corresponding roster move won’t be necessary. Shoemaker is represented by ISE Baseball. Shoemaker, 32, was a late addition to the free-agent market on Nov. 30 after the Angels decided to non-tender the oft-injured righty rather than pay him a projected $4.3MM salary in arbitration.Because of that non-tender, he ht the open market with four years, 166 days of Major League service time under his belt, meaning he’ll be controllable through the 2020 season, via arbitration, if he can reestablish himself in Toronto. A series of forearm strains torpedoed Shoemaker’s 2017-18 seasons, limiting him to just 108 2/3 innings over that two-year span. He wasn’t especially effective in that time, either, pitching to a combined 4.64 ERA (4.62 FIP) with 8.4 K/9, 3.1 BB/9 and an ugly 1.5 HR/9 mark. That said, there’s also reason for optimism with Shoemaker. Though his 4.94 ERA in 31 innings this past season won’t impress anyone, he averaged a career-high 9.6 strikeouts per nine innings in that brief span and recorded a career-best 13.6 percent swinging-strike rate, as well. Perhaps there’s some small-sample noise at play there, but Shoemaker’s splitter was a demonstrably more effective pitch in his limited time on the mound in his final season with the Halos. It’s also worth noting, of course, that Shoemaker was a solid mid-rotation starter for the Angels from 2013-16, working to a combined 3.75 ERA (3.76 FIP) with averages of eight strikeouts, 1.9 walks and 1.2 home runs per nine innings pitched. Shoemaker figures to slot into a rotation that also includes Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez and Ryan Borucki, with right-hander Sean Reid-Foley and southpaw Thomas Pannone vying for the fifth spot in new skipper Charlie Montoyo’s starting five.
  7. Question is …..Is Jon Morosi legit or does he just pull s*** out of his ass for click bait
  8. Ye MLB traderumours has it now too The Padres and Blue Jays are reportedly discussing a deal that would send Marcus Stroman to the friendly confines of San Diego, per sources close to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi. The ongoing trade discussion would not include anyone from the uppermost echelon of Padres’ prospects, though Morosi names pitchers Logan Allen and Michael Baez as two prospects would could be sent to Toronto. Baez and Allen rank #7 and #8, respectively on MLB.com’s rankings of the Padres farm system, widely considered to be the best in baseball. For the Padres, it’s a good time to “buy-low” on Stroman, who is coming off easily his worst season in Toronto, finishing 4-9 with a 5.54 ERA in only 102 1/3 innings. The Friars already added veteran Ian Kinsley to the clubhouse, and they’ve been linked to Dallas Keuchel as well. Another starter to help anchor their otherwise youthful rotation has been a priority for GM A.J. Preller. At 28 years old and with two years of team control remaining, Stroman certainly fits the mold. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, appear ready to move on from their erstwhile ace. The Reds were previously thought to be a logical trade partner, but the Padres young arms might be an ever better fit for the Blue Jays, who are a couple years from contending in a ruthless AL East. Already armed with some of the best position player prospects in the game, namely Vlad Guerrero Jr. and, to a lesser degree, Bo Bichette, Toronto may view the arms in San Diego’s system as a better match, timetable-wise, than Stroman. It’s not a done deal by any means, but on the surface this appears like a solid match.

  10. I see the White Sox Traded Romano to The Rangers
  11. Im still pissed about keeping Urena,,,,even if you don't use his spot for Bergen.
  12. Speedster Richie Martin would be an upgrade on defence over Richard Urena. But Im sure he will be gone by the 10th selection slot
  13. Is there a limit an organization can lose? I thought there was.
  14. I think we are gonna lose Travis Bergen in this draft.
  15. When Happ resigned with us, he said it had a lot to do with being able to work with Walker again, so maybe that came into play as well.
  16. ftfy
  17. I believe he said he just received in a gang bang with 5 other guys FTFY
  18. The funniest part of that was Atkins says Drury thinks he can be " ELITE" there. LOL
  19. You may want to add to the possible trade list as Drury sounds like he want to be a 3rd baseman ONLY and we know he is not gonna be our 3rd baseman in May. Im not sure another team will give 3b either fulltime. Atkins said on Tuesday that infielder Brandon Drury would prefer to become a full-time third baseman, but the odds of that happening in Toronto appear slim. Drury is the early favourite to start the year as Toronto's third baseman, but top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is expected to be called up by the end of April. That would either force Drury to move to second base or become the utility type of player he has been each of the last four seasons. "He wants to play third," Atkins said. "He loves third base and thinks he can be elite there. We agree with him and feel like if he gets a chance to do it on a daily basis, he could be a special third baseman. "I think most players would just prefer to play one position and that's where they're penciled into the lineup every day, but more and more, versatility is a premium." https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/news/blue-jays-eye-free-agent-ja-happ/c-300354136
  20. 1 Year ago Today and still can't believe it!!
  21. Harold Ramirez elects free agency https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-outfield-prospect-harold-ramirez-elects-free-agency/ Sportsnet Staff @Sportsnet November 5, 2018, 10:26 AM 3 Harold Ramirez, a corner outfielder initially acquired by the Blue Jays at the 2016 trade deadline, has elected free agency. Ramirez spent the 2018 season with Toronto’s New Hampshire affiliate, hitting .320/.365/.471 with 11 home runs and 37 doubles in his third season at double-A. A right-handed hitter, Ramirez stolen 16 bases in 18 attempts. The Blue Jays initially acquired the 24-year-old with Francisco Liriano and Reese McGuire for Drew Hutchison two trade deadlines ago. Ramirez has been playing in the Venezuelan Winter League since the end of the minor-league season, and he’s batting .371/.413/.514 with Caracas. Ramirez would have been Rule 5-eligible this off-season, and the Blue Jays were not expected to have room for him on their 40-man roster.
  22. Jays have declined Solartes contract ROSTER UPDATE: We've exercised our 2019 club option on 1B Justin Smoak and declined our 2019 club option on INF Yangervis Solarte. Solarte will remain on the 40-man roster and is eligible for arbitration.
  23. Unless its like this year ….20 mil for 36 gmes (in which the guy couldn't throw a baseball from 3rd to first) Not sure if that's a steal
  24. It could be Bostons opener and they have the next day open just in case its a rain out as mentioned before
