Something else to consider is Chapman playin in Rogers Center instead of Oakland ...Based on Baseball Savant Park Factors. Oakland is the worst park to hit in. Toronto rated 22. So that may help Chapman as well. Im really liking this deal. Now just sign Andrew Chafin -

Freddie Freeman to Jays....maybe? (Probably not)
Ehjays replied to Ray's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
Freeman, Schwarber linked to Blue Jays as speculation heats up DUNEDIN, Fla. — Carlos Baerga and his trusty flame graphic are it again, raising the hopes of Toronto Blue Jays fans with another Instagram post suggesting Freddie Freeman is heading north. Truth? Conjecture? An overreach? Perhaps even a mix of all three? Maybe, maybe, maybe and maybe, but clearly Freeman’s fascinating free agency is nearing a conclusion. Atlanta’s acquisition of first baseman Matt Olson from the Oakland Athletics is the type of deal general manager and president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos wouldn’t have made without first knowing his incumbent star is heading elsewhere. The Blue Jays, according to an industry source, have been poking around on Freeman all off-season and some of their players have discussed how well he’d fit among them. The club’s also been hot on the trail of another free-agent lefty slugger, Kyle Schwarber, as Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first reported Sunday night, and they’ve been ambitious enough to consider the possibility of adding both, although other moves would be needed to make it work. As teams clear through a winter-frenzy level transaction logjam created by the lockout, the Blue Jays have been busily weighing a host of different opportunities available to them. The $36-million, three-year deal for left-hander Yusei Kikcuhi completed Monday was a beginning rather than end, as they weigh relief options as up-market as Kenley Jansen, infield possibilities such as Jonathan Villar and moves far more transformative. “They’ve got a lot going,” said another industry source. The Blue Jays did plenty of work on trades before the lockout and many of the blockbusters completed in recent days are no doubt the by-product of talks that date back to before the shutdown. While to this point they’ve focused on free agency, the Blue Jays have the prospect depth to get in on the sell-offs currently being conducted by the Athletics (the only thing keeping third baseman Matt Chapman from being perfect is that he bats right-handed) and Cincinnati Reds (if they’re willing to live with redundancy at first base for Freeman, why not rescue Joey Votto if taking his money helps land Luis Castillo or Tyler Mahle?). They have surely tried again to pry Jose Ramirez from the Cleveland Guardians, as they did last trade deadline, although that may very well require big-league pieces. Ultimately, it comes down to which slate of moves they can pull off. Freeman, of course, would only cost money and while he’s an awkward fit positionally — Vladimir Guerrero Jr., just blossomed into an all-star and while he could in theory move back to third base, the prevailing wisdom is to leave well enough alone — he’s perfect from a profile standpoint. He’s a lefty bat that hits for power and average and gets on base, while also bringing strong leadership and teammate qualities. The long-term deal needed to lock Freeman down carries some risk of pricey sunk-cost decline, and some of that money may be needed for Guerrero and Bo Bichette extensions, eventually. Schwarber, meanwhile, is a cleaner fit as an outfielder/DH, although it could also necessitate moving someone from the current outfield group. While he doesn’t have the average piece, the 29-year-old has a career OBP of .343 and slugging percentage of .493, and is coming off a .928 OPS 2021 with Boston and Washington. Oh, he also hits left-handed, and imagine that batting between, say, Guerrero and Teoscar Hernandez? Pretty good. Freeman is obviously more enticing, which is why the idea hasn’t really died since Baerga first firmly placed it into so many imaginations with this post back on Nov. 30. Never mind the overlooked all-star seasons of Russell Martin and Mike Saunders in Toronto, it was intriguing then and it’s intriguing now. Whether Baerga is right or not we’ll soon find out. https://www.sportsnet.ca/article/freeman-schwarber-linked-to-blue-jays-as-speculation-heats-up/ -
Blue Jays “Making Push” For Kyle Schwarber By Anthony Franco | March 14, 2022 at 6:34pm CDT The Blue Jays are “making a big push” for Kyle Schwarber, tweets Jon Heyman of the MLB Network. Marly Rivera of ESPN reported (on Twitter) this evening the Jays had interest in the lefty-hitting outfielder. Heyman adds that multiple teams remain in the mix but puts Toronto among the frontrunners for his services. Toronto has been tied to a few marquee bats, as reports suggest they’re at least on the periphery of the Freddie Freeman market. Presumably, a Schwarber deal would take the Jays out of the running for the 2020 NL MVP, but he’d be a notable boon to their offense himself. Schwarber, who turned 29 last week, is coming off a career-best season. Non-tendered by the Cubs last winter, he signed a $10MM deal with the Nationals. The Indiana University product hit .253/.340/.570 with 25 home runs across 303 plate appearances with Washington. That included an unreal 16-homer month of June that had made Schwarber the league’s hottest hitter before he suffered a severe hamstring strain in early July. He spent the next six weeks on the injured list, during which time the Nationals fell out of contention. The Red Sox acquired Schwarber in a deadline deal despite his injury, with plans to have him rotate between first base and left field for the stretch run. He returned in mid-July and picked up right where he’d left off pre-injury, popping seven homers with a .291/.435/.522 line in 41 games with Boston. (The midseason trade also made him ineligible to receive a qualifying offer). Between the two clubs, Schwarber posted a .266/.374/.554 line with 32 homers over 471 plate appearances. That production was 45 percentage points above the league average, by measure of wRC+. As he has throughout his career, Schwarber was a bit prone to strikeouts (27%), but he also drew walks at an elite 13.6% clip and posted top-of-the-scale power production. He ranked in the 90th percentile or better in terms of average exit velocity, barrel rate and hard contact percentage. It was the kind of middle-of-the-order output many expected from Schwarber when he was drafted fourth overall and ranked as one of the sport’s top offensive prospects. The corner outfield market is robust, with Kris Bryant, Nick Castellanos, Seiya Suzuki and Michael Conforto all joining Schwarber in the ranks of the unsigned. Freeman and Anthony Rizzo are the top options at first base, leaving plenty of possibilities for clubs in search of an upgrade to the middle of the lineup.

https://www.cp24.com/sports/toronto-blue-jays-news/kevin-gausman-impresses-teammates-in-first-bullpen-session-with-blue-jays-1.5818721 Kevin Gausman impresses teammates in first bullpen session with Blue Jays John Chidley-Hill, The Canadian Press Published Monday, March 14, 2022 3:13PM EDT DUNEDIN, Fla. - A small crowd gathered as Kevin Gausman began his first official bullpen session as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. Players, coaches, scouts, and reporters all slowed down or stopped nearby to watch Gausman pitching to catcher Reese McGuire on Monday at Toronto's player development centre in Dunedin, Fla. Although other Blue Jays pitchers were also getting their work in, all eyes were on Gausman. “It's nerve-racking, to be sure,” said Gausman of being the centre of attention. “Especially that netting's not that high over there,” he added with a laugh, referring to protective fencing backstopping McGuire. “I wouldn't stand back there too close. Especially early on, it's spring.” Jokes aside, Gausman's first spring training session with the Blue Jays caught the eye of Charlie Montoyo, his new manager. “He located his pitches on his first bullpen, always fun to watch,” said Montoyo, who whistled and wiggled his index finger back and forth to show the action on Gausman's pitches. “You know when you go 'yes!'? One of those.” Gausman agreed to a $110-million, five-year deal with Toronto on Nov. 30 after a 14-6 season with the San Francisco Giants. The right-handed pitcher had a 2.81 earned-run average over 192 innings in a major-league best 33 games started. He also struck out 227. Expected to be a key member of Toronto's rotation this season, Gausman said that every pitcher gets a lot of attention at their first bullpen session of spring training. He said that after working with only one or two people all winter it's only natural for players to be curious about how their teammates have developed in the off-season. Still, Gausman couldn't deny that his blood was pumping after his workout. “It's the first time you get that adrenalin, it lets you know that yeah, spring training's started,” he said. “You always get a little bit more sore after your first 'pen here, more than any other you've thrown the whole off-season.” One pitcher who particularly impressed Gausman was six-foot-six right-hander Nate Pearson, who has yet to play a full season in the bigs. “Just a big body guy, throws 100, the ball just explodes out of his hand,” said Gausman, who is entering his 10th season in Major League Baseball. “Hopefully, I can help him out in any way. He seems like he's just got to gain experience and figure out what works for him.” Gausman isn't sure what catcher will become his go-to battery partner for the regular season. Because it's such an important relationship he wants to get to know McGuire, Danny Jansen, and Alejandro Kirk off the field first, starting with sitting beside them at breakfast in the Blue Jays' cafeteria. “I'm a little bit different than most guys that pitch, I'm up in the zone a lot,” he said. “So we'll be talking about target, presentation. “Some guys I like to have almost stand up straight and some guys are big enough bodies to where they can just kind of get on one knee and kind of give me a target but it's kind of just figuring each other out.” -

Seems to be some love for Jonathon f***in Villar. I just think he is a very bad example to have on a young team. Let me refresh the type of player you want to resign. When we were in the playoffs, and he got pinch hit for, He grabbed his bats and left the bench. He is a cancer. Disagree with your manager, thats the competitive nature of professional athletes. But to grab your s*** and leave your team, that should not be brought back. -
Holy s*** Gomez, Get your s*** together. Why does Ross want this guy.

Thats the best thing Villar has done in a while

Keep this in mind, " Big Move" may not mean free agent, it could be trade.
