  1. I think we could do a lot worse than that. Plus that platoon would only be until Devon Travis is called up.
  2. I've been thinking about the Jays roster a lot the last 16 hours like I am sure the most of us have. One aspect that has come up is the luxury involved with not having to commit the DH position to one person like we have to forever (Lind, EE, Big Hurt, Matt Stairs, etc) Instead we could use the DH position this year to give our regular guys days off and to help us use our platoons. For example, give Donaldson a day off the turf by playing him at DH versus a leftie and starting Valencia at 3rd. Just one example, Donaldson wont be getting many days off from the field. It sure would be nice if we could use the DH position to rest some of our older players throughout the year. Jays played 10 games with National League rules last year. It would be nice if we could allocate the DH position like this in 2015: EE: 75 games Reyes: 37 games (majority at home) Bautista: 25 games Martin: 15 games Thoughts?
  3. If you were the Jays and Beane said that he wasn't doing the deal unless it was Sanchez instead of Nolin, would you do it?
  4. Cargo on turf would not end well.
  5. Trades Navarro to Texas for bullpen help.
  6. Really interested to see how much less Aoki will sign compared to Melky. That difference could go a long way in fixing our bullpen.
  7. The top 5 wasnt meant to be in a "best to worst". But more so what Gibby would likely make the rotation look like. I should have clarified that. And yes I am aware that there is no chance Dickey and Bhuerle will be back to back in the rotation but it is getting late and I am tired!
  8. To begin the season, assuming everyone is healthy: 1. Dickey 2. Bhuerle 3. Hutch 4. Stroman 5. Happ 6. Sanchez 7. Norris Not bad, good depth. I am sure we would all love to have a true "Ace" at the top of the rotation. But those guys are rare.
  9. Yeah, Lind would have been the perfect guy. This has probably been mentioned many times on this forum but I feel that he wasn't traded because of his contract or his performance on the field but more so because of his attitude and comments to the media. AA sure got rid of that Lawrie/Romero/Snider/JPA/Lind "bro" group fast.
  10. Billy Beane doesnt play around.
  11. My mind is not in baseball mid season form. Can anyone think of any cheap (via trade or FA) left handed hitter who rakes righties but sucks against lefties? Just thinking about platoon options for Mayberry and Danny V.
  12. Reyes Melky Bautista EE Donaldson Martin Mayberry/Valencia with a Left handed Hitter platoon Travis/Izturis/Goins Pompey Fap Fap Fap
  13. I like this line up. But I feel there is a zero percent chance we will see this line up unless there has been a huge change in Gibby's philosophy. But the point of the thread was lets see your preferred line up not Gibby's.
  14. I feel like a little kid on christmas just thinking about our first five batting order next year. Five guys who dont strike out and have high OBPs. Lets have some fun and talk discuss how we would arrange the first five batting order. Mine: 1. Reyes 2. Donaldson 3. Bautista 4. EE 5. Martin I assume that the number one discussion in this thread is who should be hitting second, Martin or Donaldson. So feel free to discuss that. And if you want to dream big and assume that Melky will be re-signed, feel free to give us your batting order with Melky too.
  15. Thanks for the kind words guys. It means a lot!
  16. What trade value do Navarro and Happ have? Just curious. I assume we dont want to touch any more of our prospects and we are done with any big trades. Do we really want to trade Happ? I am not a big fan of his but he provides great depth at an injury prone position.
  17. I've had a rough week: strep throat, lost my job, been stressing over a huge exam in my profession next week that I am not confident about. So the news of this trade was very welcoming. Thank you AA. Lets go Blue Jays!
  18. Barreto is a prospect. Prospects aren't guaranteed to be anything.
  19. How is Hanley's defense at 3rd? I know he wasnt good as a SS. Hanley is really injury prone and having both him and Reyes on the turf would not be a good idea.
  20. http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/11/19/pablo-sandoval-kung-fu-panda-will-not-return-to-san-francisco-giants-boston-red-sox-toronto-blue-jays-gameday/
  21. Per: Many sources. $50 Million seems reasonable, anyone agree?
  22. He will also meet with the Red Sox, White Sox and Giants. Source: Ken Rosenthal twitter
