  1. Man, Giles has barely thrown any competitive pitches since 2019. Sure, the team should do their due diligence, but I wouldn't be too concerned if they choose to pass on him. He's almost certainly cooked.
  2. So everyone s*** on Ross Atkins all offseason for not getting enough swing and miss guys. The Jays pitching staff as a collective currently have the 7th highest K rate in the bigs, 10th highest from the starters and 7th highest in the bullpen who have an excellent 10.24 K/9. Is everyone still concerned about swing and miss in the bullpen, or has that narrative shifted to a different discussion?
  3. The Rays have the third best rotation in the MLB by WAR, best on a per-inning basis - lead the MLB in K/9, ERA, FIP and xFIP. They are not the same at all. Not to mention the Rays are absolutely pummeling the competition offensively, the gap between them and the next closest position player group is as big as second place and 24th place, which is absurd. Nobody is keeping them "in games", their rotation has an ERA over 5 which is 9th worst in the league if you want to go by "results". Kyle Gibson and Tyler Wells f***ing suck. Their only starter with any sort of upside is Grayson Rodriguez, Kyle Bradish has pitcherish traits but mostly has sucked and doesn't project that well at all. Eventually if your rotation blows the bullpen will start to feel it as well, as we very well know with the Blue Jays this season.
  4. Meh, I wouldn't quite call the Orioles good just yet. They have a solid lineup with young promising guys, an elite bullpen, but a terrible rotation. Seriously, the bullpen is out-WAR'ing the rotation by almost 2 full wins and it's not even mid-May. The Orioles are the Red Sox with slightly worse hitting and slightly better pitching only due to a better bullpen.
  5. Nicely done Yimi. Now Swanson and then Romano and close this out. A few runs of support wouldn’t hurt either.
  6. They’ve tried Schwarber at leadoff and Turner at leadoff but both have struggled which is why the lineup is the way it is. Not saying it’s right or anything.
  7. Perfect, got through the 6th and past Harper. That Turner hit was totally calculated.
  8. Ridiculous pitch there, 98 on the outside corner.
  9. I'll take one more run at the top of their lineup at this rate. Get us past Harper, ideally Castellanos and hand it over to the bullpen with the bases empty and let them close it out.
  10. Only concern for Gausman currently is the Phils have done a good job of fouling off pitches so the pitch count is pretty high already. Unlikely he gives us more than 6 today.
  11. 99 to a disgusting splitter. Gausman isn’t f***ing around today.
  12. And then there's Verlander whose stuff just doesn't decline.
  13. The DBacks are really struggling to get much out of their pitching prospects this season. Pfaadt has given up 6 homers in 9.2 IP and is generally just getting completely destroyed lol, he's 1st percentile in just about Statcast metric. Hasn't struck anyone out, the fastball has a ton of spin (89th percentile) but it's coming in at an unsexy mediocre velo. Ryne Nelson and Drey Jameson are two others who are top 100 prospects coming into the season who have not debuted well at all. Corbin Carroll is at least a stud, but Alek Thomas kind of blows, Moreno has no power but is otherwise pretty good, and Geraldo Perdomo would be awful if he wasn't running a .455 BABIP, he's outproducing his xWOBA by 150 points. Certainly too early to call any of them busts, but not showing promising results early on. The downsides of prospects.
  14. Wheeler is no easy matchup, even with Gausman on the bump. Should be a good game.
  15. It was a good pitch the last two seasons. His fastball/sinker are still good. I don't know if it really is the pitch clock messing with his tempo, or he's been experimenting getting different shape out of the slider to become a better pitcher earlier in the season, but he really just needs to rediscover the slider from the last couple of years and he'll be back to being a dependable arm.
  16. Richards is the quintessential reliever. Dominant to unplayable at the flip of a switch.
  17. I could have played that ball better than Castellanos. He looks like a little leaguer out there.
  18. Richards can look absolutely dominant sometimes. That Bugs Bunny changeup was unhittable tonight.
  19. Belt has the 10th highest BA against 95+ this year believe it or not. Now, leaving Belt in against a tough lefty with his K struggles this year would've been pretty foolish.
  20. Disgusting change after some ugly swings at the fastballs. Trea Turner just got undressed.
  21. Okay? It's not like he said he's been the best pitcher in baseball.
  22. Schneider has made some good calls this game, just basically none of them have worked out. Pearson, Springer for Varsho, now Jansen for Belt. None of them could execute.
  23. Phils are honestly even lucky that hit Chapman, that would've missed so badly the runner from second might have scored.
