  1. Lmao, the Pirates' fans trying to make Arrieta nervous by chanting his name. It's not going to work though.
  2. It's making me feel pumped. This is much better than yesterday's game.
  3. Baseball Reference's pitching WAR is pretty shaky because it uses runs allowed, which is in part dependent on the defense behind the pitcher and a lot of luck is involved. Fangraphs' version of pitching WAR uses FIP, which eliminates the defense and focuses only on the factors that the pitcher can control (strikeouts, walks, and homeruns to an extent). Hutchison's fWAR was 1.5 this season, which is worth about $12MM if you're being conservative. Of course that doesn't mean that Hutch should make that amount, as there would be little precedence for such an insane raise.
  4. Does this game count towards regular season stats as a game 163 or does this count as a playoff game?
  5. Lol the booing continues. Pathetic.
  6. 123 wRC+, 137 wRC+ at AAA at a reasonable age, good walk and strikeout rates, can hit a homerun here and there. Meanwhile Ellsbury has had an 82 wRC+ and the Yankees don't really have a replacement 2B.
  7. Um, no, not really...
  8. Ellsbury kind of sucks now.
  9. Who else are they going to play? Plus he's actually a pretty decent hitter.
  10. Jason Castro is putting on a clinic behind the plate.
  11. I can certainly agree with all of this. However, I do still think that Estrada against this lineup would be very risky given how prone he is to the longball. If he did everything that you suggested, he could succeed, but he's the type of pitcher that will have a few mistake pitches, and his stuff would be very hittable for a lineup of this caliber.
  12. The high fastball is actually a weapon of his since his fastball has the lowest vertical drop I believe. His biggest problem is that when he misses by a little it's a meatball.
  13. Estrada would get shelled by the Astros lineup.
  14. Fantastic play all around, wow!
  15. Keuchel is tearing s*** up.
  16. Tanaka doesn't look very sharp.
  17. You just can't hang a high fastball to these Astros hitters.
  18. Holy f***, monster bat flip.
  19. Another bomb from the Astros!
  20. Agreed. Very insightful, sounds intelligent.
  21. Keuchel is absolutely dominating right now.
  22. Chris Archer not only praising Keuchel, but also Castros' framing. Chris Archer is awesome.
  23. The Astros are getting to Tanaka.
  24. I'll just leave this here:
  25. This. I don't understand the hate, you get to see where the pitch landed in the zone as soon as it crosses the plate. Much easier to criticize the umpire.
