  1. Or better yet, a 4-run homerun.
  2. PNC Park is absolutely rocking.
  3. This is probably as good of an opportunity as the Pirates will get against Arrieta. They need Cutch and Marte to come up big.
  4. Also, the umpires union is a thing too.
  5. Wayyy outside!?!?! Cervelli totally didn't just steal that strike! #UmpShow
  6. Wow, Schwarber's exit velocity <3
  7. It's almost like this is new. Sabermetrically-inclined FO with a good framer behind the dish. Playoff teams off the top of my head who employ above-average framers (presenters?): Mets, Cardinals, Dodgers, Cubs, Pirates, Astros (Yankees too), Blue Jays. I'm not too sure how the Rangers' catchers rate in that department.
  8. This Pirates team is still excellent, they just unfortunately had to go up against Arrieta and Cole wasn't sharp on the other end.
  9. Holy s***, Dexter Fowler.
  10. [insert laughing .gif]
  11. It was just an all-around weird play. Ball hung in the air for a while, which means that Marte had plenty of time to come in and call off the SS, who had to make a very tough play, Bryant also could have realized this and gone back to the bag.
  12. What the hell was that whole play about?
  13. Wow, MONSTER shot! Fowler and Schwarber doing all of the damage.
  14. I thought you were a Sens fan? Does the game have fantasy implications for you?
  15. That pitch was naaaaasty.
  16. Lmao, the Pirates' fans trying to make Arrieta nervous by chanting his name. It's not going to work though.
  17. It's making me feel pumped. This is much better than yesterday's game.
  18. Baseball Reference's pitching WAR is pretty shaky because it uses runs allowed, which is in part dependent on the defense behind the pitcher and a lot of luck is involved. Fangraphs' version of pitching WAR uses FIP, which eliminates the defense and focuses only on the factors that the pitcher can control (strikeouts, walks, and homeruns to an extent). Hutchison's fWAR was 1.5 this season, which is worth about $12MM if you're being conservative. Of course that doesn't mean that Hutch should make that amount, as there would be little precedence for such an insane raise.
  19. Does this game count towards regular season stats as a game 163 or does this count as a playoff game?
  20. Lol the booing continues. Pathetic.
  21. 123 wRC+, 137 wRC+ at AAA at a reasonable age, good walk and strikeout rates, can hit a homerun here and there. Meanwhile Ellsbury has had an 82 wRC+ and the Yankees don't really have a replacement 2B.
  22. Um, no, not really...
  23. Ellsbury kind of sucks now.
  24. Who else are they going to play? Plus he's actually a pretty decent hitter.
