I have a feeling this was a typo and Bryan meant to say these are the only relievers projected to have an ERA under 3.85 to begin the season. Which is true except for the late inclusion of Lovelady on the 40-man and potentially the 26-man roster as well. You recall correctly:

Mason Fluharty has been a real story in camp. Another strikeout and soft contact groundout to bring his K:BB to 9/1 in 6 IP (3 HBP though). Lefties and righties both are having uncomfortable ABs against him.

Rainer Nunez hit a 416 ft HR with an exit velo of 110.9 mph. Easy to see why he's still in the org despite the fact that his performance as a 1B only guy has been pretty underwhelming. There's big power there if he's able to lift the ball with frequency.

lol @ hitting singles approach for a guy who has near perfect launch angles when he connects and doesn't have the hit tool to put bat to ball consistently.

Bo is gonna have a 5+ WAR season off the back of a 145 wRC+ and like -10 OAA at SS.

I can see why the Yankees were quick to move Ben Rice off C at the MLB level. I don't think I've seen him block one pitch in the dirt cleanly. Bo with another no doubter bomb to CF. He looks healthy at the plate.

Also one thing I'm confused about is how Schreck can start the season in AAA. The depth chart as it stands: MLB: Varsho (IL) Springer Santander (DH) Joey Loperfido/Myles Straw/Steward Berroa/Alan Roden (4th OF + Varsho replacement) AAA/on the cusp: Joey Loperfido Myles Straw Alan Roden Nathan Lukes Jonatan Clase Steward Berroa Will Robertson Something has to give. Even if we forget about Schreck there's way too many OF guys in AAA, and at least 3-4 of those guys deserve regular ABs.

Again want to highlight how excellent the prospects coverage has been. These are terrific writeups for the 21st and 22nd best prospects in the org. Schreck might be an interesting guy as a platoon corner OF. The short sample in AA is promising, he's no star level ceiling guy but seems like an advanced hitter, projections already peg him as a league average guy. 2025 is the year that determines if he's an Alan Roden type of riser, or a Will Robertson break-glass-in-case-of-emergency 4th OF AAAA dude. Clase is probably underrated given his age. There are real tools there as a CF capable switch-hitter with legit speed and raw power. Won't turn 23 until late May. Jose Siri as a 55 CF defender (as opposed to Siri's 70) with more balanced splits anyone? He already takes way more walks than Siri ever did in the minors. High probability legit 4th OF option with some breakout potential.

I remember the collective frustrations for a lot of us on the old board, lamenting every time Charlie Montoyo would give Joe Panik another opportunity at 3B. The fact that Ross Atkins managed to get anything of value for Panik - a guy literally on his last few months as a professional - at the deadline, let alone two real contributors in half a season of Dickerson and two legit good seasons of Adam Cimber, remains nothing short of spectacular. Panik never did anything wrong in his tenure as a Jay, aside from overperforming in ST and being such a "professional baseball player" to get him enamored by Charlie Montoyo and the Blue Jays broadcasting crew that we saw him play way more than he had any right to.

If only he didn't have Guerrero-itis. Man is a certified worm killer, 53% GB rate at AA last season, hasn't run an ISO above .200 (as a 1B only guy) since the complex league in 2021.

I've heard a lot about Sandlin being a weapon against LHH due to his splitter, but frankly he looks far more unhittable against RHH from that low slot and the sweeping slider. Why not both of course.

Varsho is driving the s*** out of the ball this spring. If him and Kirk can bring some of this batted ball performance into the regular season we're gonna be in a really good spot this season.

It is a woman, Jen Pawol: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jen_Pawol Buck shouted her out earlier in spring, she's just the third woman to ever umpire a Spring Training game, and is on the shortlist to get called up to ump MLB games this season. She did AAA games last year and was an umpire for the AAA championship game. I don't know how often AAA umps become full-time MLB umps but she seems as close as any to making the jump.

Macko is sidelined for at least a couple of months as he recovers from a meniscus tear before official ST games began. Bloss could certainly do well out of the BP, but I think his role for now is remaining stretched out in case some of the fringe options like Bowden Francis and Yariel Rodriguez struggle out of the gate. I think it's almost a near certainty that, barring an injury to himself, Bloss starts at least a handful of games this season. And if his home is in the rotation permanently, which the Jays certainly want as their key component of the Kikuchi deal, then he'll need to continue building up his innings. There's no doubt for me that Bloss is the next man up in the depth chart after Francis and Rodriguez. With Scherzer and a lot of the rotation members being kind of old, I wouldn't be surprised to see stretches of a 6-man rotation under consideration.

Not sure what kind of implosion you're envisioning out of the rest of the players if any number of these predictions come true but the Jays only win 88 games as a result lol.
