  1. His delivery off the stretch actually appears to be pretty quick, you're deluded if you think he's going to be pulling off the high leg kick with runners on base.
  2. This is what he looks like btw: That's from one of his outings at the AFL, featuring a cameo by a certain highly rated Jays prospect. Edit: even more recent outing, this time with the aforementioned big bodied prospect leading off
  3. This was after he put up a replacement level season, not after a league average one where he can play a passable shortstop. I'm very puzzled by this deal, it seems that even if they completely love Thornton that they should have been able to get more added to that deal. On the surface he's a low walks old starter who potentially discovered some strikeout ability this season, but not enough to blow you away given the age/level, and has a very weird delivery which I honestly don't really care about unless that's a detriment to his health for whatever reason.
  4. Pillar absolutely is not a bad player. He's a player whose skillset declines rapidly with age and due to his offensive profile can be difficult to watch at the plate, but he has been excellent for us and while I too would prefer someone else manning CF in the future, his contributions for the team at the given price should be appreciated.
  5. Obviously not, and the Braves aren't giving up Anderson to acquire a projected backup catcher.
  6. That's because their version of pitching WAR uses ERA+ I think, which relies too much on the defense and batted ball luck.
  7. I feel like if you were going to give it to someone who didn't really have the innings, at least give it to Sale who was far and away the best pitcher of the bunch. Verlander should have taken it on the basis of excellent performance over more innings in a non-AL Central division.
  8. Upon further review I actually really don't like the Snell selection, he almost definitely won it on the basis of ERA and wins. There were several candidates that had a much stronger case. Oh well, at least deGrom didn't get screwed.
  9. Snell and deGrom win the respective Cy Youngs. I personally wouldn't have picked Snell but he definitely had a solid case, good thing the voters weren't f***ing idiots this time around on the NL side, though I wonder how much voter fatigue on Scherzer's side played a part.
  10. Because muh hockey. It's awful I agree, plus SN is much worse since we have to endure Leo Rautins over Jack Armstrong who's significantly better.
  11. Wendle probably would've been my second choice but Ohtani was simply better.
  12. It's just been one of those nights, missing wide open looks all game while the Pels have hit a bunch of tough shots inside (granted, our defense hasn't been the sharpest).
  13. Jimmy Nelson had his breakout season at 28, he won't turn 30 until May of next year.
  14. I agree with this, he's the riskiest of the non-pitcher elite prospects but his ceiling is incredible which is why I felt comfortable with him as a centerpiece.
  15. Lol the + was J.T. Realmuto and you know that.
  16. I'm looking to upgrade at third base, J.T. Realmuto still available.
  17. The team would at least break even with Santana's contract, he projects to be a 2+ win player. Morales is a complete sunk cost.
  18. This is being really harsh on Santana.
  19. To P2F: Carlos Correa To Org: Fernando Tatis Jr. Jose Martinez Jimmy Nelson Brandon Marsh
  20. Joe Mauer retired Hope he goes into the Hall, he was a hell of a catcher.
  21. He's had two down years where he was still a ~115 wRC+ hitter worth 3 WAR, he might be a Hall of Famer yet unless the PED suspension breaks his candidacy. Incredibly durable too, he probably would have surpassed 600 PA again this year had it not been for the suspension.
  22. We're open to moving Cano who has 1B eligibility.
  23. Mods can't have anyone on ignore, for obvious reasons.
  24. He's an excellent defender with offensive potential and they're probably selling high on Mallex Smith, I totally get this deal from their perspective. I think more than looking for a way to reduce his strikeout rate, they'll be looking instead for him to regain his 2016-2017 walk rate.
