  1. Cleveland is playing some horrendous defense this series. Endless number of bobbles.
  2. 8th pitch second inning is ideal for them. Increases the likelihood that they push him for a full second time through the order.
  3. https://www.mlb.com/news/guardians-2025-al-wild-card-series-roster He's not on their roster at all. This makes no sense, even if he had pitched on Saturday/Sunday I'd prefer him going here than Cecconi, or at least a piggyback like you're suggesting.
  4. I have no idea how he's their starter. Is Parker Messick injured or something? Would have neutralized Greene, Carpenter and McKinstry as well.
  5. Lot of pitches for Cecconi early, but the stuff looked good. I imagine the plan is hoping he gets through 1 time through the order cleanly and then pull him at the first sign of trouble during his second go around.
  6. The surprising thing to me is the Padres and Cubs getting such awful time slots. Chicago is no stranger to weekday daytime games, but still a bit shocked they couldn't get better start times than they've been getting. Particularly brutal for West Coast Padres viewership. Feel like they could at least have started one hour later than they have been, but then I guess it would've taken away from Red Sox-Yankees viewership.
  7. I doubt many are watching Detroit vs Cleveland on prime time anyway, is the counterargument. Lost viewership from starting Boston vs New York outside prime hours probably vastly outweighs the added viewership boost of giving the lesser ratings game a peak TV spot.
  8. If he didn’t he wouldn’t be in the league lol
  9. Padres bullpen is a joke. Mason Miller is unhittable.
  10. As much as they probably should/want to save the arm, I think with their season on the line it'll be all hands on deck and he'll be available. I think a < 2 run game in the 8th inning and beyond and Cade is definitely pitching.
  11. The Guardians slugging their way to a win is not what I had in my bingo card.
  12. Rocchio goes deep wow
  13. They were having a bunch of hitters overperform in the first half, and ultimately they all regressed to the mean in the second half. Tork, Gleyber Torres, Baez, Greene, McKinstry, etc. had significantly worse second halves. First half looked like a world beating team, second half looked like Cleveland pretty much.
  14. Complete mid off between these two offenses.
  15. Also can't help but feel the Blue Jays don't get that call overturned if the opponent was the Yankees or Red Sox.
  16. Big overturned call there, preventing the Tigers from taking the lead and continuing the rally. I think I agree he was out but it's close enough to where you can be mad with either result depending on who you're rooting for.
  17. Agreed. I could see Naylor still being good moving forward. Young catcher and they tend to take longer to develop. At 25 it's not rare to see catchers making their debut or really coming into their own in their second season or so. Minor league pedigree of being a good hitter, could take that next step. I think Arias and Rocchio are pretty bad though and they should definitely try to upgrade there.
  18. Cleveland lineup, ages: Kwan - 28, veteran Valera - 24, rookie Ramirez - 33, veteran, elite HOF talent Manzardo - 25, sophomore Bo Naylor - 25, third season Arias - 25, third season DeLauter - 24, literally making his debut Kayfus - 24, rookie Rocchio - 24, third season
  19. Kayfus and DeLauter are both names to watch for the future in Cleveland, both top 100 prospects with good offensive numbers in the minors. Both players 23 going on 24.
  20. DeLauter narrowly misses striking out in his first appearance by just barely clipping the ball and having it bounce before reaching the catcher's glove, to later walking.
  21. Casey Mize suxxx, just missed giving up two bombs in the first inning. Feel like that Manzardo flyball at 104 mph with 27 degree LA goes out in quite a few ballparks under normal conditions.
  22. I remember Valera was previously a big prospect for them. Top 100 in 2022, reaching AAA as a 21 year old. Fizzled out after that but is only 24 still.
  23. Starting Valera immediately pays off for Steve Vogt and the Guards.
  24. Obviously the sun played a big factor but once he picked the ball up again he seemed to take his eye off the ball on the catch attempt. Definitely the nerves getting to him.
  25. Chase DeLauter commits a costly first inning error in his first chance at the MLB level, in the playoffs. Must feel like he wants the earth to swallow him right now. Poor kid.
