  1. Just as a postscript on the Bickford situation. AA had in the past suggested that it shouldn't be assumed to be a $ issue. I don't know that we'll know the reason but one thing I found very interesting in the article on bluejays.com this morning is apparently teams do not have access to medical reports prior to the draft - which I find surprising, I'd have thought that it would have been important for a team to be able to take a look at medical records before the draft for reasons such as this - if it was some medical concerns that they did have (which is purely speculative).
  2. Sorry, thought it was $2m. Callis says no dice on Bickford.
  3. I'm betting Bickford is next - that's why they didn't just split the $2m between Brentz and Tellez
  4. Does that give them an extra $500k for Bickman?
  5. Jays sign Brentz for $700k. I think that there will be another signing. I'm betting $1.3m for Tellez
  6. Totally agree on that one - I'm getting real sick of it and I felt that way from the beginning.
  7. Dwight Smith is another player who had a really bad year last year - his first. He's putting up better numbers in Lansing this year, definitely at least showing the speed and his OPS is improving as well.
  8. Well - maybe you've seen some quotes that I haven't, but the only thing I've seen is AA saying that as of right now, he doesn't think that Bickford would sign but he did leave the door open. It sounded to me like Bickford had turned down the offer wanting $4m or something like that, so it seemed like AA wasn't completely discounting - unless you've seen something I haven't.
  9. Thanks - wasn't sure how to embed the tweet before. Yeah, I just replied back to him asking what new info was contradictory. We will see, indeed.
  10. Callis is now saying he's confused about Jays draft and getting contradictory messages. As far as I'm concerned, I'll just wait until the deadline tomorrow, there's just too many unknowns to get in an uproar right now.
  11. No - they have been a .500 team and a sub .500 team. Tough division or not, the team just hasn't been good enough. Period.
  12. Maybe we should like wait and see what the deadline brings before making a judgment eh? Who knows who they will sign - if anyone. No sense getting into a tizzy yet.
  13. $5 has been donated - thanks for all of the hard work!
  14. Interesting tidbit - if only for me In the top of the 1st inning today, the GCL Blue Jays had THREE non-consecutive triples. BTW, major league record is (I believe) the Red Sox, in 30's, not only did they get 5 triples in a game but they were in fact consecutive.
  15. I'd kind of give the guy a mulligan for the time being. He's only had 3 IP and he was off last year with the foot fracture. I'd give them the chance to work on his mechanics, delivery, strength, etc... before pronouncing him a bust. Just IMO.
  16. Well - they did score 8 runs in the first game of the DH but yeah, look at their starting 9, not much there in terms of talent - kind of doubt that anything will get anything much more than a sniff of AAA.
  17. Dickie Thon is having a better year. Last night's game he also scored the winning run from 2B on a sac fly.
  18. Well according to Norris himself when I asked him on Twitter just a couple of days ago, he expects to be back on the mound "any day now"
  19. So are there ONLY 3 teams in the AL East w/o their 1st unsigned? EDIT: Okay, reading another post, all 5 teams in the AL East still have to sign their 1st picks. Wait and see I guess.
  20. Glad to see you posting - welcome aboard. I think it's a great question and one that others can probably answer better than I, but I do also think that the manager will rely on the catcher's opinion heavily. I'd think that out of everyone on the field, he's the one that would have the best first hand knowledge. Perhaps the middle infielders have a pretty good angle and perspective, but especially with runners on base, they're gonna be more distracted by playing the position lol.
  21. I've been taking free verse poetry at school - that's what that post looks like lol.
  22. Compared to Brett Wallace, everyone is George Clooney. Let's count our blessings.
  23. lol Spanky. Love it when you get on a roll. BTW, nothing wrong with that age difference, same with my gf and me (even a couple of years more than that). Wasn't last night the game you went with your dad?
  24. Valid points - I guess I was just looking at the fact that there are so many promising arms in the system already, in addition to what may or may not come out of this draft but yeah, a power lefty could bring in a good haul. I guess it probably speaks to the org philosophy of going with the best player, regardless of the position and the org needs there.
