  1. i cannot wait until sanchez dirties all over your foul, seditious lips in the regular season.
  2. don't sleep on this kid. he's going to be a fan favorite in the belgian league
  3. ever have one of these? apparently, surprisingly tasty https://kellysiew.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/p1010077.jpg
  4. where is Kyle Drabek. he reminds me of Aethelwulf from Vikings.
  5. Justin Upton the 6 WAR player, yes. But I don't think he'll ever hit that 5-6 WAR level ever again. what happened to his baserunning?
  6. i want Sanchez and Stroman next year in the rotation Gose as 4th OF. everyone else should stay in AAA. AA, please do not rush Norris and Pompey. would rather have Pillar's punchable face in the lineup than ruining legit prospects who could become above-average MLBers. let Morrow, Janssen, and Rasmus walk. fill pen with Drabek and Nolin. give Delabar another crack retool, use remaining savings post-Reyes $6 mill to get another bat and grind it out for a potential 2nd WC spot in 2015.
  7. Buehrle Dickey Stroman Hutchison Sanchez get a proper catcher in Russell Martin. i'd roll with that. probably a slight upgrade to the staff this year. wouldn't win the division for you, but wouldn't lose it either. re-sign Melky; get a proper SS/2B and shift Reyes to the other position; Cecil as closer and sign a relief arm or two. that's probably an 86-88 win team assuming that no major extended injuries occur in 2015. probably good enough for a Wild Card spot, which i think it realistic given the budget constraints of this staff. wouldn't dump Dickey or Buehrle - that's about 400 innings that you're losing there. don't expect to fill that within with Happ + new guys and still contend. don't really see any equivalent on the FA/trade market that would be an upgrade to Dickey/Buehrle let alone as durable - and don't want to give up good assets for a replacement pitcher for the sake of freeing up some cash
  8. take the 1st round pick, use the cash elsewhere. let Pillar be the starting LF next season for teh .265 BA .268 OBP 5 BBs in 162 games lulz.

  10. Hutch pitched some absolute gems in his first season back from TJS. I'm willing to give him a long leash for this season and the next one - what does irk me a bit is that Gibby doesn't yank him early enough when he struggles in they key games down the stretch. Even if it means taxing the bullpen, I'd rather run that risk in August than having a fully rested bullpen playing irrelevant games by September...
  11. i'd be fine with going for it - in terms of see whatever the heck you can get to make a run this season without giving up Sanchez, Stroman, any core MLB-roster player, Osuna, and Norris. everyone else on the farm, i'd give up for the right offer. this probably equates to a half-assed attempt at #2 and ending up pursuing #1.
  12. man, if he hit even .230/.300/.350 against lefties regularly, he'd probably be a perennial 5-5.5 WAR all-star DH. amirite?
  13. happy with the catchers this year - a huge upgrade over JPA. but imagine where this team would be if they had kept Yan Gomes. I'm guessing at least 30 and 21.
  14. probably less pressure to succeed this season and no Josh Johnson who was horrible last year. also factor in better balance in the lineup, no JPA hacking at every pitch, and generally better plate discipline - i don't know if i buy into the Sportsnet announcers that this is attributable to an excellent job of the hitting coach. I think it has more to do with the fact that JPA is gone, Rasmus has been injured, and Melky actually hitting the ball this year rather than any magical transformation in the hitting habits of the players. Lawrie is still hacking at everything - his homeruns and opportune key RBIs have simply somewhat ameliorated the fact that he still has no restraint in laying off pitches that are within 2 feet of the strike zone.
  15. i can't describe it, but it was something akin to baseball love for Colby Rasmus the day he became a blue jay. i hope he retires as a Jay. if he continues to improve, .265, 30-90 with perennial 5+ WAR would be amazing all things considered.
  16. I really hope so. I agree that Rasmus is just starting to scratch his potential now that he has found his comfort zone within Toronto. Assuming that Gose needs a bit more seasoning, extending Rasmus would give the Jays a great outfield combo of Gose/Melky, Rasmus, and Bautista to start next season.
  17. Bautista, with Rasmus a close second.
  18. Opening pitcher: JJ In the starting rotation: Wang Hutchison? Ortiz? Shortstop: Kawa Second base: Boni Pinch runner: Davis? Playing 1st base (other is DH'ing): EE Catching (assume no KB): Thole Setup man: Cecil Closing: Janssen
  19. too bad for Lawrie. just when there was a mere glimmer of hope that he might be turning the corner with a multi-hit game last night, an injury occurs speaking of Lawrie, what''s wrong with Jason Heyward? the guy is massively struggling this season...
