  1. Kratz looks lost and over matched. He has a chance to stick around for a bit especially since Thole is a black hole in the line up and Narvarro is painful to watch defensively at times and Kratz is just...all over the place and doing exactly the opposite you want him to.
  2. Jays go years without bunting because they didn't want to give away outs. Now they seem to bunt as often as they can and it fails miserably 99% of the time. Bunting at the right moment is fine and a good way to manufacture runs IF you have the guys who can lay down a bunt which let's face it the Jays really don't, and you don't bunt with a guy who can't move slower on the base paths if he was in a cast.
  3. Rasmus .167 against lefties? Ouch. I didn't think he was that bad or did I read his stats wrong? I knew he had a hard time hitting lefties but damn.
  4. I wonder if there is anything in the rule book that would allow Narvarro to have a Hoveround when he's on the bases?
  5. It's been one of those horrible games all around. Neither team seems to be running away with the game and making similar mistakes.
  6. Well, that certainly sucks. Seems like once the Jays get rolling something like that happens.
  7. It's not really surprising considering how much he's pitched in Japan and he's been a horse since coming over to the Yankees. It's a blow to them for sure even if it's only a short time and nothing serious. I won't wish bad on anyone but him being out, the Red Sox all but waiving the white flag, it certainly gives the Jays a little extra help if they can take advantage. On the other hand, I know it sounds a bit harsh, but for once I'm glad it's not the Jays having a big piece being injured. The Yankees knew how many miles were on his arm coming in, and like any pitcher, there is a risk. It will be interesting to see what it might be over the next few days. I'm curious to know if it's just inflammation or something worse.
  8. I hate this "feast or famine" approach the Jays have to hitting. If they don't crush a few homers they don't seem to get too many balls out of the infield. I'd love to know how Reyes seemingly fell off the face of the Earth. I thought he was acquired to be that "spark plug" at the top of the line up.
  9. Maybe Weaver felt bad after the first two innings, saw the line up, knows the Jays are in a tailspin and figured a perfect game against them isn't really a perfect game since it's like beating up a kid in a wheelchair.
  10. This is AA, he'll overpay for him when he gets into a bidding war with himself.
  11. I would have liked to see Janssen get in but missing the first month probably did him in.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jays have pieces to get Price the problem is his asking price will be higher if the Rays are going to trade him in the division. They'll take the best package they can get but I see them asking the Jays for a little more than say a club in any other division. It would be nice to have him but I can see it being an overpay no matter who gets him. Our farm has been plucked the past couple years. We already lack depth as is. I could see them asking for guys like Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, Lawrie etc. The price to acquire Price might really screw the farm system or what's left of it. Might take a 3rd team as well. It would be nice to have a guy like Price, an actual top of the rotation guy instead of wash ups like Dickey but considering the amount he might make next year, how much he might want for an extension, the price in prospects might make it a bad move. Some contracts start coming off the books in a couple years, so money might not be a problem down the road but will the Jays have the pieces in place in the next 3-5 years to justify giving up prospects, taking on whatever he might command in a form of extension (since 1.5 years is only worth it if the Jays make the playoffs) and if he'll want to stay. I don't want to see the team giving up some of our more finished prospects for a Price if he's going to walk or the team won't be able to compete in the next 2-5 years and it turn into a Halladay situation. But even if the Jays land him, give up a high price, they could always turn around and flip him in a year. The Jays just seem to have the same bad luck with injuries, players faltering at the wrong time, other teams making a push.
  13. The question is whether or not his "down year" is due to linger injury. This team has a habit of acquiring injured players or those who get injured or coming off an injury and never living up to what they should. I'm sure his power numbers would increase in Toronto but I won't hold my breath. If he comes cheap and they can resign him so it's not giving away a prospect, taking on money and then watching him go elsewhere it might be worth it to see what he can give the team.
  14. But the Jays HAVE made moves to BETTER themselves! They've made waiver claims and added AAAA players who have less value than if they didn't even put a player on the field! I know things are easier said than done and you don't want to piss away prospects from a depleted system but they were leading the division by a decent margin only to go into a tailspin, and are heading to 3rd place. Name any other team that would have the expectations of the post season in a "3 year window," get off to the start they did, after paying the price to bring in the "talent" on the ML roster only to watch the ship sink. It's as if they're going to sit back, blame injuries yet again, claim that the deals didn't come along because the prices were too high, even though other teams took less for similar deals, didn't have money, the other GM(s) just wanted certain players, blah blah blah. I don't know what's worse:watching other teams continue to make moves, come back from near death to take a shot at the playoffs while standing pat and sinking, or if the Jays just didn't lead the division, were floating around the border of the wild card but no real shot at making it? There is a lot of time left but what's the point if we're going down with injuries to compliment needing extra offense and starters? It's as if the Jays are contractually obligated make it look like they're within sprinting distance and then just roll over.
  15. In an ideal world he would. Hell, even a mediocre one he would. But this is AA. He now has the injury excuse to work with again. He'll claim that the injuries were too great, we had too many holes and the trade prices were too high even if no one was hurt. We'll regroup and get them next year! I can hear him already.
  16. They have a huge problem with consistency so unless they're able to turn it around, and not have to rely on 3-run homers or homers in general to score they're going to have a horrible time getting in.
  17. I really hope AA and the FO will look at what's missing and hopefully make at least a semi decent attempt and giving the team a boost.
  18. What a way to lose it. Losing it on the road like this is tough enough but Melky having the ball go in between his legs is just sad. Tough losses happen but it seems like this team is unusually high on them.
  19. Ah! How'd I forget about him? He's been a nice pick up thus far. Would be better if he could cut down on the strike outs and/or make contact a bit more but considering he came out of nowhere and was cheap he's a bargain.
  20. The commentators on the Oakland feed even said the ump was a bit wrong in that case. One said the last thing an ump should be doing is yelling into the dugout, taking off the mask, yelling more and making it worse. Have to love some of these umps. Inconsistent strike zone, balls for strikes, strikes that are balls and then yelling back. Obviously no idea what was said or if there was more to it but glad Seitzer is sticking up for his guys.
