It would be ridiculous if they retaliated for that since Happ hitting him wasn't intentional. Melky getting hit where he did and as far in does make it seem like there might have been some intend but I doubt it. At least right now I doubt it. I'd hope they wouldn't retaliate over that.
If he winds up signing elsewhere it better be because someone came in and blew away the Jays' offer. To just let him go with a low ball offer will really drive me up a wall.
I am. I think it's almost a given and has to be done. He walks for nothing, it'll sting even more. Lose his bat, no one to replace him plus no compensation.
I'd certainly give him a bit more money to stay. He's had a great year and there isn't anyone to replace him. Maybe he'll take a little less each year for the guarantee of a 3 year deal?
