  1. Did Carreno piss off someone within the FO or something?
  2. It really depends on the health of Manaea's hip. When healthy Manaea already had the velo and has a supposed great pitcher's frame. As a LHP I can't really see the advantage of going with Ball, who has way more question marks, unless there are sign-ability concerns I'm not aware of.
  3. I don't think they've said but, they seem intent on giving him lots of innings. IMO he'll probably get somewhere around ~140IP in 2013 but, that's just an educated guess. Yes, they should absolutely stretch him out now that they have started. That being said there will be a time towards the end of the season where Stroman can come up to TO, help the Jays win and get some invaluable experience -- without deviating from the plan. Stilson has yet to give up a run in AAA, he's looked very good out of the pen. I'm excited to see what he can do going forward. Don't forget Perez will be back at some point after the AS break and Carreno tearing it up as a closer the in AA. Come mid August the Jays should have lots of options to help fill out the BP, also some great depth to deal from in the off-season. I think the Jays just wanted a LHP, since BAL has struggled against them, for a spot start. I think the nerves got the best of Nolin. I was impressed with his stuff but, his command was all over the place. He'd probably got out of those jams in AA but, MLB hitters will crush mistakes. Hopefully he learned a lesson, goes back to the minors, applies the necessary changes and becomes a better pitcher in the long run.
  4. Stroman could definitely help the Jays out of the BP this season which, I'd love to see after the AS break as he reaches his IP limit. I don't really see the need to rush him up as a SP. There are guys in AAA/waiver wire who could probably do a similar job for the spot start or two the Jays are looking to fill.
  5. And he was just alright, 4IP, 6H (including a HR and 2B), 2ER, 1BB, 5SO, 66 pitches - 43 strikes, 4GO:2FO
  6. Except Frazier has +20HR pop and some think he can stick in CF...
  7. At this point I have it; Frazier Bryant Meadows Moran Crawford McGuire Smith Wilson Renfroe I'd be very concerned that McGuire is one of those in-betweeners that can't stick behind the plate and doesn't have a bat for a corner spot.
  8. I'd be ok with this. It really depends on his health but, Manaea has some of the best stuff in the draft and is the best LHP IMO. I'd prefer a high upside bat but, AA should go BPA and that very well may be Manaea.
  9. Are you trolling again?
  10. DJ Davis is an OF'er and isn't close to the upper levels of the system.
  11. True, he does have a decent chance of being a bench player one day...
  12. I haven't heard that about Davis, I miss a lot though. Davis' best tool is his speed and he apparently has plus, plus range in CF, he should stay in CF IMO.
  13. Ya, the upper minor league levels are completely devoid of MIF talent. If they think he can stick they should definitely give it a shot, especially since no one is convinced his bat actually plays at a corner OF spot to begin with.
  14. Not sure if the Hurl was talking just the swing but Smith Jr/Thames are very different hitters and prospects. Thames has big time K issues and was never thought to have the contact skills that Smith Jr is developing. Thames also has way more power than Smith Jr ever will.
  15. There has been lots of talk of using Smith Jr at 2B. Apparently he is one of those guys that grew up around the game and does the little things instinctively. He has great hands and seems to have the range necessary for the position. Obviously it isn't happening any time soon but it is something to keep an eye on.
  16. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/03/12/blue_jays_broken_wings_heal_far_from_bigleague_lights.html
  17. Except Sanchez/Bradley put up those numbers while being virtually unhittable and putting up excellent GB rates. Norris has been hit extremely hard and is a FB pitcher so far. Definitely a step in the right direction but the concerns are still there.
  18. Against RHP Reyes Bautista Melky Encarnacion Lind Lawrie Izturis JPA Gose
